A Little Look Around My Office
As my office has had a fresh lick of paint and someone on Instagram suggested I share the details of what's inside it seemed like the perfect time to write this post. Having my own little office to call my own is such a luxury, for such a long time I was working from a tiny little desk in my bedroom so having more room is such an amazing thing to be able to have. So from my desk of choice to my most loved house plants here is a little look around my office in its current state…
sofa
For a long time, I was sure I was going to get a single day bed to go in this room so that if we ever did have guests over that needed somewhere to stay we had an extra bed. But, as this room isn’t the biggest a bed would have made it pretty cramped so I opted for a sofa instead and one day when driving through the town next to us I spotted this beautiful light grey mid-century style sofa. It was sat outside the shop reduced to less than £100 as it had a dirty mark on the back of it but as I knew the back wouldn’t be on show I couldn’t leave it behind. It’s fitted into my office space perfectly and it’s ideal for Josie and Edie to sit on when I’m at my desk as the floor would have become too cluttered with their beds scattered around. Above my sofa are a few prints from the brand Juniqe (from a previously paid partnership) and I absolutely adore the way the gold and copper frames compliment the pinky tones of the wall.
desk
My desk is from IKEA and it’s one of the build your own systems and I've had it for a few years now after having a much smaller desk I knew I needed something much bigger once I got a desktop computer. The desk is made of a trestle table (which IKEA no longer sells), a set of Alex drawers and then a simple tabletop and it works perfectly for me. The drawers are where I store all my notepads and important documents that whilst are vital aren’t the prettiest to display so I like to have them stored away. On the trestle table, I store my collection of magazines as they’re heavy and would probably be too much for a shelving unit to bear the weight of. They’re also very aesthetically pleasing so the majority of them live there and a few are tucked away under my sofa.
On my desk, lives my desktop computer which is a Mac Mini and then an Apple monitor which I absolutely adore. It was a pricey investment I made at the end of 2018 but it’s been so worthwhile for me as even though the screen I had before was ok I could never get a colour profile to match my laptop which made photo editing tricky. As well as my computer I have a few books, personal trinkets and one of my most loved houseplants at the moment which is a trailing beauty.
shelving
Last year when I originally redecorated and rearranged my office I purchased a set of shelves to go above my desk from JYSK and I still absolutely adore them. Originally, they came with a black metal frame (they sell a white frame style now) which we spray painted white as for my decor style right now the white goes so much better. On the shelves lives a few trinkets as well as some of my smaller houseplants as it’s the perfect spot for a trailing plant like a string of hearts, I just have to be careful of it going onto my screen!
clothing rail
I’ve not photographed my clothing rail in this post but you can see it in this post here. The rail itself is from Argos and it was such a good purchase, I had a cheap IKEA one before that always leant to one side. I know clothing rails are a little bit of a controversial one as yes, it’s not ideal for your clothes to be constantly exposed to light but for me, this rail works perfectly and as it’s not facing a window I don’t worry about my clothing pieces a huge amount. And, personally, having the vast majority of my clothes out on display helps me with outfit planning so much more.
