Worth The Hype?

As much as I try and avoid hyped products when they're first released there is just something I can't quite resist about giving them a go myself. When you read so much on a product you're bound to want to try it yourself and see if it lives up to praise it's been given. I've got a few old rave products in this selection and a few new ones to share with you today.

O.P.I Rapid Dry : For years I was a Seche Vite top coat girl and never thought I would use anything else. One day something changed and SV just wasn't cutting it anymore and I decided to try another top coat that's well loved in the beauty community. Enter O.P.I Rapid Dry, this doesn't leave as glossy finish as SV, but it does really dry rapidly. With some quick dry top coats, they do tend to make your manicure chip quickly but I can get a good 6 days out of this with a good polish (Essie).

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer*: One of the brands most famous products is their primers. I'd used the radiant one before and not got along with it so I wasn't quite sure what I was going to think to the original. It's not like any primer I've ever used before, it's a gel formulation so is really cooling upon application. I find this helps to keep my make-up looking fresh and bright all day, but it doesn't create as even of a base as I would like.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: When Benefit brings out a new product you're bound to hear about it. I nabbed this mini Roller Lash with an issue of Elle a few months ago. I love how long and fluttery this makes my lashes and it definitely holds a curl well, but it doesn't deliver much in the volume department. It doesn't smudge or flake and isn't a complete nightmare to remove, unlike another Benefit mascara which quite frankly isn't worth the hassle.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector*: I was super excited to try this release from Clarins as their lipstick and balm hybrids are normally awesome. It's got that beautiful vanilla scent that a lot of their lip products have, it's a struggle not to just lick it all off when you've applied, it's that good. This leaves a really pretty sheen to the lips as well being hydrating, but I don't find it deposits a huge amount of colour. I've got the shade 01 so maybe a darker shade but would leave a little more pigmentation.

Maxfactor Creme Puff Blush: If my rave about this pretty little blush (read here) wasn't enough for you then here is another one. Probably one of the best blush releases from the high street in a long time. They are, of course, a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes, but a 1/3 of the price and the colour range is practically identical. I went for the shade Lavish Mauve which is such a pretty almost berry shade which is the perfect contrast against my pale skin and green eyes. They leave a beautiful radiant sheen to the skin without being glittery or shimmery.

Zoeva Rose Gold Brushes:The Real Techniques brushes have reigned supreme in the blogging community for a long time. I think the crown might have been passed along to Zoeva now though, especially their beautiful collections. I'm often asked if I think the Rose Gold brushes are worth the initial splurge and I think they are worth that and so much more. I've had mine for over a year and they're still in great shape, I've spoken about my favourites in this post here.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: The packaging of this mascara is just too pretty. I had such high hopes for this mascara and it fell a little flat, I'm not a fan of the name either but that is a just personal preference. I've seen people wax lyrical about this mascara, how it was the best they've ever used and whilst I do find it good it's not the best. I've been using it in combination with another mascara to get the exact lash look I want but for the price I wish it did it alone.

What products do you think are worth the hype?
