A Fail Safe Spring Look

Every single year without fail when Spring finally rolls around I start applying the same makeup look like clock work. I just can't resist those light rosy hues after wearing deep plums and burgundies for what feels like an eternity. My fail safe Spring look always consists of a few key elements which are the following.

Base:

I flit between wanting a radiant dewy base to something a little more matte and skin like. Maybe it's because I've been watching Mad Men and coveting after that perfect porcelain skin they all pull off. The L'Oreal True Match Foundation is a great natural base that still provides enough coverage to hide blemishes without looking too heavy. If I do have any really nasty blemishes that need a little extra coverage, I always use the 17 Stay Time Concealer which conceals whilst still being hydrating.

Cheeks:

To add a muted rose flush and slightly define my cheekbones the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed is a complete fail-safe. It looks a little dull in the pan but once it applied it works wonders. With the combination of a skin-like base and a matte blush I then reach for a highlight just to add a subtle glow in all the right places. The Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlighter is a beautiful cream that adds radiance without a chunk of glitter in sight.

Eyes & Brows:

As this look is more focused on the skin and cheeks I tend to keep eyes and brows minimal. The Soap & Glory Archery Pencil* is perfect for filling in any sparse areas whilst still maintaining a natural feathery looking brow. Shadow is kept simple with the Lancome Colour Design Infinite in Continuous Cream, it's a matte shade that is great for hiding any discolouration on the lid without being overly obvious. Followed up with lashings of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, I'm a little on the fence with how I feel about this mascara, it's good but not the best I've ever used and I had high hopes for it.

Lips:

Spring is the season for the tinted balm if you ask me and the Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in Petal is the perfect shade to finish of this look. On my complexion, it's the best my lips but better shade I've ever found. It adds a pretty wash of colour that gives the illusion of a fuller lip shape without being obvious and drawn on. The Fresh balms always pack a punch with hydration & pigmentation and always wear evenly throughout the day which makes them a firm favourite with me.

What is your go to Spring look?
