November In Beauty

-contains PR samples-

November has been a month filled with the most wonderful occasions, my boyfriend turned 30, we got engaged and lots of other lovely days in-between. So, naturally, it’s been the month where I’ve worn the most makeup and this is my loved beauty products from the month so far and there are some real gems.

bareminerals good hydrations primer (gifted from previous paid partnership)

In recent weeks the weather has been unpredictable and we’ve gone from frost on the ground to severe flooding and the temperature has been constantly up and down. So my skin has needed all the help that it can get when it comes to moisture and this primer has been fitting the bill perfectly. It’s silky and feels wonderful once applied to the skin but despite it being silky it’s not at all slippery nor is it so nourishing that it eats away at anything you apply over the top. With ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and coconut water it’s incredibly kind to a lackluster and tired complexion. And with the slightly pearlescent finish, it adds a drop of luminosity without being too obvious either. If you’ve ever used the Too Faced Hangover Primer it gives similar results to that but with a thicker consistency.

bareminerals barepro foundation (gifted from previous paid partnership)

When I initially tried this base I didn’t love it as I found it a little difficult to work with so I’ve found the key to using it is to use a really good buffing brush (I imagine a sponge would also work beautifully with this base). You must also prep your skin well with a good moisturiser and a hydrating primer to get this to sit well I find. Finish wise it’s one of the most natural options I have in my collection whilst offering up a really good amount of coverage so perfect for those occasions when you want smooth over any imperfections but still want to maintain a very skin-like finish. During the warmer months, you might want to powder this if you tend to be a little more oily but in general, I don’t find myself needing to set this down to make it last all day and when it does start to wear it’s very even.

essie treat, love and colour in good lighting (gifted)

I’ve got back into giving myself an at-home manicure, there is nothing better than a fresh slick of colour to boost your confidence I find. Essie is a brand that dominates my nail polish collection and a shade I’ve been favouring is one from the treat, love and colour range which is designed to be a little kinder of the nails. I can’t say I’ve ever noticed a huge difference in my nails when using this in comparison to anything else as I do always make sure I do use a base coat. The shade Good Lighting is the perfect nude for me, it’s ever so slightly purple based which is what I find the most flattering when it comes to this type of colour. When I wear this shade my hands look polished and perfected without being too obvious and when the polish does start to gradually wear you cannot tell at all. And for such a light shade, it’s not a complete nightmare to apply either and it’s opaque in just a couple of coats.

burt’s bees almond & milk hand cream (gifted)

As soon as I start shoving my feet into boots with thick chunky socks on they inevitably start to feel a little dry on the heel. And my fail-safe for fixing this that is this beautiful butter-like cream that smells absolutely delicious, it’s not something I’ve found amazing on the hands as it is so thick so you can’t use it throughout the day when you're on the go but on the feet it’s ideal. I either use it in the morning before I put my socks on or I use it after I’ve had a bath or shower and let it soak in overnight. It instantly relieves any dryness so that it doesn’t become even worse than it already is as I certainly don’t want anything to crack and become seriously painful.

fresh sugar advanced treatment lip balm

I’ve been a long term lover of the Fresh lip balms, whether it’s the tinted version or just the standard balm they are the best that I’ve ever tried. I’ve had the advanced therapy balms sat in my dressing table for a long time and I’ve only just got around to using them and upon first use I wasn’t sure they were as good but a few uses in they are fantastic. Containing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, sugar, beeswax and blackcurrant seed oils it is a beautiful product to use and it helps make chapped lips feel instantly better. One of my favourite things about these dreamy balms is that not only are they incredibly kind to the lips but they also contain an SPF which even in the colder months is incredibly important. Because of the included SPF these are the balms that I tend to reach for during the day rather than overnight where I always use the Lanolips Lano balm.
