Everything I'm Trying To-Do That Doesn't Involve Panicking

Since I last wrote anything about what is going on in the world things have now changed drastically in the UK and we’re now in lockdown. As of right now, I’m still allowed to walk the dogs so I’m savouring my time with them outside as other than that I’m staying inside isolating away from the world trying to keep others safe. Whilst I know the magnitude of the current situation is huge and things could be so much worse I can’t deny that I’m having a little bit of a tough time working out what my new normal is. So, these are all the things I’m trying to do over the next few months that don’t involve worrying myself into oblivion.

  1. Tend to all my houseplants and maybe even try to propagate a couple as that’s something that I’ve never tried before.

  2. Broaden my knitting skills.

  3. Do my tax return nice and early.

  4. Work through some stuff business wise that I’ve been putting off for a while.

  5. Sort out my Spring & Summer wardrobe.

  6. Organise our kitchen cupboards and the pantry so everything flows a lot better.

  7. Repaint our spare bedroom.

  8. Sort out our tiny entry way as it’s never been touched and although we use the backdoor more it would be a lot nicer for any guests coming into the house if we spruced it up (obviously, people aren’t coming into our house right now).

  9. Have a proper Spring clean.

  10. Finish re-reading my Harry Potter books.

  11. Declutter my office and go through all my important documents.

  12. Start doing trick training with Josie and Edie just incase walks start to become an issue and they need more mental stimulation.

  13. Transfer my mum’s recipes to my recipe tin.

  14. Create a good at home exercise routine and utilise all the wonderful YouTube videos there are.

  15. Discover new walks in our local area for Josie and Edie.

  16. Organise my external hardrives.

  17. Find a way to be of use in the world right now. We had hoped to be able to foster a dog as kennels are having to close their doors but sadly that is no longer an option right now with restrictions on travel

a personal note

Whilst I know this post is everything that I want to do that doesn’t involve worrying on a more serious note this is a terrifying time for people and I don’t want to appear ignorant to that. So many have lost their jobs and have no idea if they’ll financially survive this unprecedented time and for so many, they’re struggling to know what to do day and day. It can feel like everyone is going on as normal and taking this opportunity to suddenly create their best work ever and it can be a little overwhelming when you have no idea what to do. I know that in the past two weeks I’ve not been anywhere near as productive as I ‘should’ be and that’s ok, it takes time to adjust to something new let alone adjust to a situation that is changing every day.
