Beauty On Trial #3

It's been a good few months since I last did a Beauty on Trial post. During the festive season, I didn't try too many new things but throughout January, I've been getting stuck in with new products. I've discovered some great items and I'm super excited to share them with you today.

LA ROCHE POSAY BB BLUR CREME*: The first time that I applied this I very nearly sat down and wrote an entire love letter to it. However, when I initially read its name I saw a few words that I typically don't like in my base products, 'oil absorbing mousse. And yes this is a mousse but don't worry it's nothing like the infamous Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. It's amazing for smoothing out the complexion and perfecting it without the need for a ton of product.  It definitely does absorb any excess oil on the skin but not in a horrible drying way or accentuating dry patches. For a BB cream, it's got the longevity and coverage of a foundation but it feels incredibly light on the skin. Sadly the shade range is dire with only two options available. The best way to apply it is with your hands rather than a brush. Even though I prefer brushes they tend to soak up the product.

DERMOLOGICA POWERBRIGHT TRX TREATMENT KIT*: A brand that I'm not overly familiar with is Dermologica. I've always heard such marmite reviews about their products. This kit that aims to brighten the skin and even out any uneven skin tone. It contains 3 products, a day cream, a serum and a night cream. This type of skin care is something that takes a while to reap the benefits from but so far my favourite item is the serum. It makes my complexion feel incredibly smooth, almost like velvet which in turn helps uneven skin tone feel much better. I like the concept of these little taster kits but I do feel like the product size could be bigger so you can see the products work for longer before committing to the full size.

MERUMAYA GENTLE EXFOLIATING TONER*:  Exfoliating toners are an integral part of my skincare routine. Merumaya has just released their gentle exfoliating toner and I was so excited to see how it would fair against some of my all time favourites. I was slightly disappointed with just how much this stung on breakouts. Whilst it doesn't leave my complexion red or angry the stinging sensation is unpleasant. However, it does contain one of my most loved skincare ingredients... hyaluronic acid. So my skin doesn't feel like it needs a follow up moisturising toner which is an added bonus.  In combination with the Dermologica* serum my complexion feels incredibly smooth so I've not needed any form of manual exfoliation. And my makeup seems to apply so more seamlessly on top even without using a primer. Not the best exfoliating toner that I've ever used but still one to bear in mind if you're on the hunt for one.

MALIN + GOETZ CLEANSING OIL*: An area of skincare that I'm pretty new to is the world of cleansing oils. It only took a few uses of this new release from Malin + Goetz and I knew we were a match made in heaven. Not only is it incredibly easy to use but it makes my skin feel incredible. I love the fact that you don't need a flannel to reap the skincare rewards either as flannels are a pain to travel with. I've always feared cleansing oils would make my skin feel greasy afterwards. But this makes my complexion feel incredibly nourished and soft whilst still giving the skin a thorough cleanse and removing all makeup and grime.

LANOLIPS RHUBARB LIP OINTMENT*: Bright pinks aren't usually what I reach for but when they're in balm form. I find them to be a little more forgiving on my pale complexion. As my skin has been so deathly pale during the colder months my lips look like they're almost blending in with my skin. Which isn't a look I like to go for. The Lanolips Lip Ointment in Rhubarb is a beautiful bright rose shade. Not only is the classic Lanolips formula extremely kind to the lips and keeps them nourished for hours. But the colour instantly adds life to even the dullest of complexions.

CLARINS SPRING COLLECTION*: I always look forward to seeing what Clarins bring out in their Spring collections and this year wasn't a disappointment. I've been trying out the Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Rose Praline* and the Ombre Iridescent Eyeshadow in Silver Ivory*. The lipstick is a typical 'me' shade, a dusky pink with a brown undertone. It's buttery on the lips but still packs a punch with pigment. The wear time is ok, nothing too amazing but it's a lovely lipstick none the less. The eyeshadow, however, is truly beautiful, it's a cool-toned champagne shade. Which is automatically flattering on my skin tone. The formula is a little different to what I'm used to as it's a cream to powder shadow. So it's got the softness of a cream but the lasting power of a powder. What else could a girl want in a shadow? In terms of application, a denser brush is needed instead of something fluffy as it picks up the shadow better.

ELLOVI MINT CHOCOLATE LIP BUTTER*: I've always said that if I could be a scent it would be mint. It's a scent and flavour that I absolutely adore in my lip products and this all natural lip butter is no exception. Considering it's so light in its formulation, it's incredibly hydrating on parched winter lips. Of course, the scent and taste are what truly makes this balm special. It smells exactly like mint chocolate ice cream and if you accidentally lick some off it tastes like it too.

RODIAL GLAMOBROW PENCIL*: Brow pencils are something that I've dabbled in before but never quite stuck with. My MAC eyeshadow in Mystery in combination with the Real Techniques angled brush has always worked perfectly for me. This pencil from Rodial eliminates the need for two brushes with its built-in spoolie. So it's perfect for on the go. The pencil has a wonderful formulation. It's soft and creamy and creates soft hair like strokes to fill in any sparse areas which is exactly what I like in my brow products.

EBORIAN SKINCARE*: I've mentioned the Eborian CC Crème in a few posts recently so I'll keep it short and sweet. It's a beautiful hybrid between a moisturiser and primer. It instantly adds radiance to the skin and if you're foregoing makeup for the day. It can help fake a more flawless looking complexion without the need for layers of makeup.

PESTLE & MORTAR HYDRATE*: Before I started testing the Dermologica kit I was using this new release from Pestle & Mortar. Their original serum was one of my favourite skincare discoveries in 2015 so I had a good feeling about their moisturiser. At the time I was using this my skin was incredibly parched and within just a few days it was completely back to normal. It feels incredibly light weight on the skin whilst still managing to deliver a serious dose of hydration. And even though it's totally unrelated to the way that this product performs. The packaging makes it incredibly hygienic and dispenses just the right amount of a full face worth.
