A November To-Do List

It’s hard to believe that we’ve only got 60ish days left of 2019. It’s been a strange year and not what I expected at all, it feels like the last 10 months has been all about finding a routine and knowing where I want to be headed work-wise and it’s felt so very necessary. I’m super excited to be heading into a new decade, but I’m desperately trying not to wish time away as it already passes us by at such a terrifying rate and I feel like we’ll be halfway through 2020 soon enough. All that being said this is what I’d like to achieve in one of the final months of the year before we enter the crazy festive season.

read harry potter again

This year I felt like I fell out of love with reading despite desperately trying to get back into it, I even set myself a Goodreads challenge to spur me on. But, no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t get myself into the habit of picking up any the books that I have waiting for me on my bookshelf regularly and it makes me so sad. I'm sure like many reading has been such a huge part of my life since I was a child. As an attempt to get me back into the habit of reading and making sure I’m making the time for it in my schedule I'm going to pick up my all-time favourite books. Something that I used to do every single year without fail is re-read the Harry Potter books and it’s something that I must have done a good 7-8 times. The pages are filled with so much nostalgia for me it’s something I find a massive amount of comfort in so I think they might be the answer to rebuilding my relationship with reading. As it’s the festive season I’ve of course got to give the films a watch too as there is nothing better than a snowy Hogwarts on screen.

get back to running

October was a busy work month for me which was great as I’m always so grateful to be busy but it did put my running on the back-burner. I’ve still managed to fit in a few odd gym visits here and there but it’s not been anywhere near the amount I like to go and I’ve missed running so much. I’m not a natural runner by any means and it’s something that I find pretty hard but it’s also something that I find unbelievably rewarding. Exercise is something that's easy to let slide in my routine once I get busy and I always end up thinking ‘oh I’ll go tomorrow’ and then that tomorrow turns into a couple of weeks. But exercise is so important for my mental health and keeping things a little more balanced as it’s all too easy for my mind to become an unbearable place to be. Of course, exercise isn’t a direct cure for mental illness but for me, it’s something that helps an unbelievable amount so I need to make more of a priority in my schedule when things get busy.

pick up some new plants

Every few months I like to pick up some new greenery as it’s my favourite way to add a little bit of life into a space. This time I’m on the hunt for some new large plants for my office as I had to say goodbye to one of my beloved rubber plants as it died a sad death after I attempted to repot it but it didn’t work. I’ve got my eye on;

  • Calathea

  • Monstera (my current one isn’t looking so good)

  • Hoya

seasonal walks in the peak district

We’ve not managed to go up to the Peaks a lot lately as we’ve had to do other things with our weekend but the next month looks a little less busy which means we can go and walk around some of our favourite destinations whilst their Autumn colours are on show. Living near the Peak District is often something I feel like I don’t make the most of as whenever we do make the effort to drive out we always have the most wonderful time. Ladybower is always one we love to visit at this time of year as the colours are just exceptional and it’s always a lovely walk. Padley Gorge is another one that we always adore walking around and now we know how to get to Surprise View we’re going to add that to our walk route as the view is just incredible.

a big beauty clear out

This year I consciously decided to say no to the vast majority of PR samples that were offered to me, something that is a huge privilege to do I know but I certainly do not need any more makeup, haircare or skincare at the moment as I have more than enough to get through. I’ve not had a good tidy of every I own in months, some even a year so I’m in desperate need of giving everything a good tidy up as well as make sure nothing has gone off. As always whenever I clear out any beauty products if there is anything in good condition I always give it to my sister and my best friend so they can take things into their workplaces so nothing ever goes to waste unless it's gone off but that's incredible rare.

  • Do more hair masks.
