5 Cold Weather Beauty Essentials

-contains PR samples-

Although my limbs are firmly stuffed inside of thermals, chunky socks and gloves right now I still like to make sure I’m taking care of them. The colder months can wreak havoc on your skin from going in and out from the cold and then spending time in central heating can make you feel ever so slightly like a lizard and these are the products that I use to combat that feeling.

l’occitane almond shower oil (gifted)

This is something that I come back to when it’s either ice cold outside or when I really want to treat my skin. It’s a shower oil but it can easily be used in the bath which is how I prefer to use it as it feels like much more of a treat when used in this way. If you’ve ever used a bath oil you will know that there are several different formulations and all too often they can be too watery or too gloopy but this sits happily in the middle as there is nothing worse than pouring a product out of the bottle straight into the drain. It’s easy enough to massage into your limbs where it turns into a beautiful almost milky cream that not only gives the skin a boost of moisture but is perfect for shaving your legs. Although I use this all year round when using this in winter it just feels that much better because of the dreamy almond scent that makes me feel like a real-life battenburg slice.

bioderma moisturisIng mask (gifted from a paid partnership)

Despite having slightly oily skin I love using a moisturising mask for topping up my moisture levels that I might have had stripped away from the cold weather and heating. This a beautiful gel-like mask so it feels incredibly kind on the skin which is perfect if you’re suffering from any breakouts. You can apply this like you would any other face mask and remove it after 10 minutes or so but I really love to leave this on overnight which is what I tend to do whenever I’ve been a little lazy with my skincare routine or if my skin is feeling very lackluster. After I’ve used this my complexion always looks plumper, fuller and just generally happier and you don’t have the typical faff of using a mask if you don't fancy it but still want to treat your skin as you can leave it to absorb overnight and it doesn’t make a mess of your pillow.

pumice stone (gifted)

A beauty tool that lived in our bathroom throughout my childhood is a pumice stone. Not a particularly glamorous item but for getting off the dead skin around your feet they’re so good and something I recommend anyone having in their bathroom. You need to wait until your skin is super soft from soaking in the bath and then gently scrub away at it. This has been helping so much with any dry skin around my heels and toes that I always get during this time of year. Following up with some sort of hand or foot cream afterwards helps to keep things feeling soft and supple too.

L’occitane almond hand cream (gifted)

I know I’ve mentioned this hand cream so many times in the past couple of years but it’s probably one of the best that I’ve ever used. It’s got that same dreamy almond scent as the shower oil and it lingers on the hands just long enough. The reason why I love and mention this hand cream so much is that it’s nourishing and repairs any damage that I might have done to the side of my nails with my anxious skin biting habit so quickly. Even though it’s super kind and nourishing to the skin it’s not so moisturising that it leaves you with really sticky hands meaning you’re not able to touch anything without leaving greasy fingerprints everywhere which is one of my biggest pet hates when using a hand cream.

soap & glory no woman no dry body butter (gifted)

One of the best body brands I’ve ever used and loved for well over a decade now is Soap & Glory. We’re all probably familiar with their classic scent which is very similar to the Miss Dior perfume but this body butter is seriously fruity. This isn’t something I typically gravitate during winter as I prefer to go for almond and vanilla scents but I’ve been really enjoying this as it’s fresh and fruity but it’s not too overpowering and doesn’t interfere with any other fragrance you’re wearing. The reason why I love the Soap & Glory body butters as a whole so much is that they’re thick and nourishing but they sink in immediately. You never have to stand a dither in the bathroom waiting for your moisturiser to sink in and my limbs feel so nourished for a good 24 hours after application.
