Tackling Transitional Weather Skin Freakouts

Every year without fail my skin completely freaks out when the weather changes. This year was a little different however as I had one of the rare beauty addict moments where everything I was using came to an end all at the same time. So it was the perfect opportunity to go back to a few old faithful products as well as trying out something new. And those products have cleared up my little freakout nicely so of course, I had to share them in case your skin has the same pesky habit when we switch seasons.

OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL*: Even though I talk about this cleanser all the time in my beauty posts I've not used it in a while. But it only took one use for me to fall madly in love with it all over again. Which I realise is a little intense when talking about a cleanser but if you're also a lover of this dreamy gel to oil balm then you will know exactly what I'm talking about. It's like Turkish delight when you first pump it out but once massaged into the skin it melts into an oil which feels wonderful on the complexion. It's hydrating but it doesn't disturb the natural balance of the skin and it brightens like a dream due to pumpkin enzymes.

LA ROCHE POSAY SEROZINC*: When I first tested this popular toner I didn't like it at all. And whilst I still detest the aerosol packaging as I find it incredibly wasteful. My thoughts on the product inside have changed dramatically. It's known for helping clear breakouts and it certainly helped get rid of the pesky blemishes I was suffering from. I prefer to use this at night as it is slightly drying so I can slather on the super nourishing products after application. As I don't suffer from breakouts all that often apart from that one monster that always arises on my chin during that time of the month it won't be a regular part of my routine. But if for whatever reason I ever did notice breakouts cropping up regularly I would definitely make this part of my daily routine as it is great at tackling spots.

ORIGINS ORIGINAL SKIN SERUM: This has been sitting in my collection for far too long. Origins products used to be a staple part of my skincare routine and this serum has made me fall in love with them all over again. The marketing copy of this serum makes it sound almost sound too good to be true. Apparently, it can de-stress, smooth out skin texture and brighten all at once. Which sounds like something we could all do with, right? And it really does do all those things, it reminds me slightly of my beloved La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo [+]. It feels almost like a primer on the skin as it leaves the complexion looking perfected even though it doesn't contain any pigment. I'm only a few weeks into using this so I'm excited to see the long-term results because if they're anything as good as the short term then I think I've found myself a new skincare staple.

JURLIQUE CALENDULA REDNESS SOOTHING MOISTURISING CREAM*: If you've been a reader of my blog for years then you will already know how much I love this line from Aussie brand Jurlique. After having a good clear out of my beauty stash I discovered that I'd saved this moisturiser for when my skin was going through a rough time [thanks a lot past me you really had my back]. And it's such an incredible product for reducing redness in the skin due to the calendula. Not only is it awesome at reducing redness but it's also incredibly hydrating and nourishing to the skin. So often I think moisturisers are only good for delivering moisture to the skin which of course should be their number one priority. But it's always amazing when you find a product that can do a little more for your skin.

ANTIPODES AURA MANUKA HONEY MASK: During the past month or so I've been on a real kick to use up a lot of the masks that I have laying around and make them a solid part of my skincare routine. As it's tough transitional time and my skin doesn't quite know what's going on this has been the perfect mask for giving it a helping hand. The Antipodes Aura mask is the perfect mask for this time of year as it's moisturising as well as clarifying. Honey is a natural antibacterial which is perfect when you're tackling breakouts but it also has the ability to draw moisture to the complexion.

What skincare do you like to reach for when the weather transitions?
