8 Things That Are Making My Life Really Awesome Right Now

Whilst I will always love glossy blog content that has been planned out to a T there is just something so special about the most simple post ideas. And over the years I've always worried that these posts weren't good enough and too simple but I think that's the charm of these types of posts, that they are so simple. And it's such a lovely way to get to know a little more about the person behind the blog and it's just like catching up with a friend. So in honour of those really simple yet special blog post ideas here are 8 of the things that are making my life really awesome right now.

EARLY SIGNS OF SPRING

Whilst the weather is still a little more baltic than I'd like right now there are some signs of Spring popping up and I couldn't be happier about it. I absolutely love seeing the days get a little longer and when it's not been snowing it has generally been a little warmer. I'm someone who really struggles with the Winter season and when it's so dark and dull constantly my mind always struggles. So any sign of Spring has such a good impact on my day to day living. And of course, like every blogger, I'm so excited to be able to photograph the cherry blossom again.

COOKING

I'm going, to be honest, I don't enjoy cooking at all and I find it incredibly boring and it's not something that I get any pleasure from and just see it as something that I need to do so I can survive. But lately I've been finding joy in thinking of different meals to prepare and it's been really enjoyable. I'm probably never going to be someone who cooks for pleasure but getting at least some joy from the process is a start. I know when I'm a funk with food I tend to graze on things that aren't all too good for me so by cooking I'm making sure I'm getting all the nutrients and goodness I need. Here are a couple of recipes I love;

A GOOD WORK ROUTINE

My work routine changes all the time and every week something new comes into play and things that need to be worked around. But right now I feel like I'm in a really good jam with work and I'm managing my time well which to me means I'm getting everything on my to-do list done as well as making time for hobbies and health. There is so much pressure to find a balance between work and play but if there is one thing being self-employed has taught me is that you're probably never going to get things completely balanced but having a little balance each day is all that matters.

READING & MY BOOK LIST

Last week I wrote a post all about making time for reading and the books that I want to read in 2017. I'm so glad that I've finally picked my books back up and added some new things to my reading list. I'm looking forward to treating myself to some new books once I've got the through the ones I have waiting by my bedside table. When you've got out the habit of reading it's easy to forget how wonderful it is and how good it is for unwinding as well as helping build on your writing skills.

INSTAGRAM

Instagram has always been without a doubt my favourite social media platform but there have been so many changes to it over the years and it really has lost that instant element to it. As for the most part, people's feeds are completely planned and executed with intention. Which is something I enjoy because it's not something that's false to me as that person isn't lying as that thing still happened but they've just planned it to work in their feed cohesively with their other images. And there is nothing wrong with that as it's no different to a photographer planning out their portfolio. I've started to upload to the platform a lot more and discovering some awesome new accounts to follow and here are a few of my favourites;

DECLUTTERING

I've been on a huge decluttering kick lately and finally getting around to doing the things that I've been putting off for months. Mostly it's my wardrobe that I've been going through and getting rid of the things that I'm no longer wearing. I've bagged up a few things for charity as well as putting the remains on Depop and eBay. Even though it's pretty time consuming to do and so easy to put off but once you get it done then it's so satisfying and rewarding. Something I'm really conscious of doing this year is making sure I stay on top of clutter and gradually do it week by week to get everything I own down to the things that I really love.

COMFORT WATCHING

I'm sure that we all have those tv shows that we can watch over and over again and I know I'm such a creature of habit with the tv shows that I love to return back to time and time again when I want to watch something that's comforting to my brain. Right now I'm currently watching Gossip Girl again, which on the surface is a show that I wouldn't like at all, snobby rich kids? No thank you. But there is just something about that show that I love and it's a total guilty pleasure and I think we all need that escapism from time to time.

NUDE NAILS

When you're fair skinned finding a flattering nude nail polish is pretty difficult as so often they can be horribly unflattering. I think I've finally found the perfect nude for me which is a H&M polish in the shade Sepia. I've spoken before about how much I love the H&M polishes and why they're such a good hidden gem on the high street. They have such a lovely formulation, thick and creamy but easy to work with. And the brush is on par with the likes of Essie but the polishes are half the price and the shade range is just as dreamy. I've not been wanting to slick on the typical berry shades I would usually reach for at this time of year and the light dusky hues have been really refreshing to look at when I'm typing away.
