The Best TV Shows To Get Sucked Into This A/W
Binge watching tv shows is one of my favourite activities. Apart from watching GBBO every year and occasionally watching First Dates, there isn't much live tv that I actually watch. Series, however, they're my jam and now the nights are drawing in and it's much more socially acceptable to be a homebody it's the perfect time to get seriously invested in a great show. When it comes to what I would consider a good tv show to binge watch I have a few simple rules; hour-long episodes and multiple seasons so here are the shows that meet that quota.
GILMORE GIRLS
My most recent binge-watching endeavour. It's a show that I've been meaning to watch for what feels like forever and I'm so glad I took the plunge. If you're not familiar with the concept of the show it's the story of mother and daughter dream team Lorelei and Rory Gilmore. Who reside in the fictional town of Stars Hollow [the dreamiest place to live it seems]. Although this is a show that's highly unrealistic there are some really heartwarming themes that are constant throughout and it's one of my favourite forms of escapism. The revival series is coming soon to Netflix so it's the perfect time to either re-watch it or give it a watch for the first time.
LOST
LOST is one of those shows that you either love or you feel so enraged about that you can't even think about it. For me, LOST is one of those great shows if you want something that's going to constantly keep you guessing and to say it's not predictable would be an understatement. Whilst I don't think there are many people that don't know the premise of the show here is quick synopsis; a plane crashes between LA and Sydney and the survivors are stranded on a mysterious desert island. The episodes not only follow what's happening on the island but it shows the characters story before they were stranded and how they're all weirdly linked.
GREY'S ANATOMY
Personally, I think this is the best show to binge watch as you can't help but get seriously invested in the characters of Grey's Anatomy. It follows a group of interns in their first year as surgical residents at Seattle Grace hospital and all the trials and tribulations that follow them. If you want something that's easy to watch then I probably wouldn't suggest watching Grey's as there is no way that you won't get emotionally attached and invested in all the characters, even the ones you dislike at first you'll probably end up loving at some point. Not only is it highly entertaining but you can also learn a thing or two about medicine.
THE WALKING DEAD
If you're into anything post-apocalyptic with zombies then I'd highly suggest The Walking Dead. The show is based on a comic book although I'm not quite sure how strictly it follows them. At the beginning of the show, we see Sheriff Rick Grimes [the main character] wake up from a coma which he was put in when he was involved in a shooting. He wakes up to find that the world is seemingly over and he's alone with only zombies left but luckily he quickly finds other survivors and sets on the quest to find his wife and child in the hopes they're still alive. The show is currently in its seventh season but I have to say I prefer the earlier seasons.
GOSSIP GIRL
Out of all the shows that I love to binge watch Gossip Girl is not only one of the best but it's also the perfect guilty pleasure watch. On the surface, it's absolutely everything I dislike but I can't help but get suckered into the story line. If you're not familiar with the plot line of the show it follows a group of rich upper east siders in Manhattan and all the drama that surrounds their lives. It's highly dramatised and totally unrelatable for the vast majority of us watching it but because of that, it's one of best shows to escape to after a long day.
MAD MEN
A show set in the 50's that follows the fictional ad agency Sterling Cooper and all its staff. If you're remotely interested in the creative world I'd highly suggest giving this a watch as it discusses some of the most iconic advertisements in the world. Not only is the subject matter absolutely fascinating but the cast is incredible. Also if you're a beauty lover like I am you'll absolutely fall in love with styling and makeup used on the female characters.
