The Best Swipe & Go Shadows

For years I’ve swiped on my most loved champagne shades and never felt the need to push the boundaries, I was quite content with my predictable shadow choice. But as I’m a certified lazy girl when it comes to my beauty routine something I am a big fan of is finding the products that give me maximum outcome with minimum effort and I think I’ve found the epitome of those products. So I present to you the best swipe & go shadows for neutral lovers.

PIXI LIQUID FAIRY LIGHTS*

Pixi are well known and loved for their skincare, in particular, their Glow Tonic is incredible and something that has been a staple in my routine for a long time. But their makeup keeps on getting better and better and these absolutely glorious Liquid Fairy Lights are a stand out to me this year. They’re not a product you’re going to want to reach for if you want something super minimal on the eye as they add a serious amount of sparkle to the lid. It’s a liquid shadow that dries down within a minute or so you do need to work quickly but the finished result is incredible. Although they dry quickly they’re incredible and give a high dimension eye with barely any effort. The staying power is great and they don’t crease at all which you might expect. The shade Bare Brilliance has been my favourite lately as it’s minimal enough to wear daily but it still makes an impact.

Products like this were always something that I feared, I worried they would make my lid look greasy or would smear across it making an instant mess. Granted, if you have super oily oil slick lids then you might not like these as they do add more of a sheen to the lid than a powdery finish. The formulation is really beautiful and so easy to work with, soft and creamy so therefore easy to blend but not so creamy they smear. I use this either underneath another shadow to create something more intense. Wearing it alone really helps with any discolouration on my lid which is usually the job of an eye primer in my routine. I have the shade Hollywood which is a simple champagne shade but there are other shades in the range that look like they could make a serious impact if you like deeper tones.

E.L.F Molten Liquid Eyeshadow*

When this shadow arrived I didn’t have high hopes for it at all, I thought it would be super liquidy and slip and slide everywhere which is not something I want on my eyelids. But this is hands down one of the best budget shadows I’ve ever used and it’s comparable to the Pixi in terms of quality and staying power. If you’re after a simple, easy to use and impactful shadow that is only £5 then I highly recommend this. The doe foot applicator makes it super easy to apply but I do suggest a brush to properly blend this in. The rose gold shade is super pretty for people who want a twist on the traditional neutrals. I either use this alone or underneath more champagne based shades and it looks absolutely beautiful.

NYX JUMBO EYE PENCIL*

This was the original eyeshadow pencil that everybody loved in 2011 but it’s not something I hear spoken about much now. For me, this is the budget version of the Nars shadow stick and again it’s something that I tend to use alone or underneath shadows to create more of a dimensional look. These are a little more slippery than the Nars option so if you have dry skin they’ll be a good option for a glistening eye but otherwise, it might be a little too shiny for an oily skin. There is an abundance of shades to choose from but personally, I’m a big fan of Yoghurt. Hardly a shocking shade choice for me but it’s the ideal shade for every day or minimal makeup days. Even though this is meant for the eyes you could probably use this as a highlighter in a pinch as it’s so creamy and easy to work with.

I've just had a big beauty clearout (read all about it here) and I came across this shadow stick. I thought it was totally dried out which pains me as it’s one of my favourite eye items. But once I sharpened it down quite a bit it’s still useable [insert raised hands emoji here]. I’ve spoken about this product before but it’s one of the best items to own if you’re lazy with your beauty routine but still want something that packs a punch. All you need to do is scribble it into the eye, blend in with either a fluffy brush or your finger and your good to go for the day. A creamy formulation that it easy to blend and work with but it settles down to stay put for the rest of the day. The shade Champagne Diamonds is a beautiful golden glitter and can work with a multitude of makeup looks so if you're a one type of shadow only type of girl this is perfect. Just be sure to keep the lid on tightly when it’s not in use as they do dry out quite quickly.
