The Best Of My

Make-Up Brushes

-this post contains PR samples-

Over the years, I’ve built up quite the collection of make-up tools and I’m a brush girl through and through when it comes to applying products. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt is that if you invest in a decent brush it’s something that you’ll be able to keep for years as long as you take good care of them. Most of the brushes that I still use today are 7+ years old and have no signs of giving up soon so I thought it was finally time to share my all-time favourites with you.

foundation

There are a few brushes I like to rotate my way through when it comes to my base whether that’s a tinted moisturiser or a full coverage foundation. Over the years I’ve worked out the type of brush I love the most for base application are quite dense but they don’t soak up what I’m trying to apply and provide a smooth even finish. The one that I’ve used the most and had for the longest is the Zoeva Silk Finish Brush, even seven years on this is still a beautiful brush and it’s been washed hundreds of times. The dome makes it so easy to apply anything with ease and it only takes seconds for anything you’re using to be seamlessly applied. A brush that I love when it comes to a base that is either more full coverage or more of a natural to matte finish is the Zoeva Buffer Brush (PR sample) as it seems to work with the product a little easier. It’s not quite as easy to work with as the Silk Finish Brush but it still provides a beautiful even finish with minimal effort, I find it works best with more of a patting motion. The newest brush to my collection comes from IT Cosmetics and to be honest given the adorable shape I wasn’t quite sure how well it would perform but it's fantastic. The shape really helps you to get in all the contours of the face with ease and it works equally well whether it’s a foundation or a tinted moisturiser.

blush, powder, concealer

Unlike my foundation brushes when it comes to the tool that helps me apply my blush, powder, and concealer I very rarely stray from what I know what works seamlessly. My concealer brush of choice is very much like my foundation brush just smaller (Zoeva 110 Face Shape Brush) so it can get into the contours of the nose and eyes with ease. I like to use a light patting motion to ensure my base products stay all day as I’ve found that this method of application is what works the best for my skin. Although as of right now I’m not using any powder as I’ve not felt the need for it lately the brush I love to use to set everything into place comes from the brand Iconic (PR sample). It’s a dense angled brush which I find is the perfect shape for providing a neat powder finish, I never find I’m left with an overly powdery finish regardless of how heavy-handed I might go in. Finally, for blush which is arguably my favourite part of my beauty routine we have the Look Good Feel Better Multi-Tasking Brush (PR sample). This is the best brush I’ve found ever found for providing a natural finish on the cheeks whether I'm using a cream or powder blush. I’ve often found in the past brushes deposit way too much colour and can leave an uneven finish but this is such a fail-safe tool. It’s a multi-tasker too which means you could probably use it for any base needs, I just prefer it for blush!tic

eyes & brows

I’m a one wash wonder when it comes to my eyes, always have been and probably always will be so for shadow application I like something fluffy that can pack the shadow on and then blend it out. The best brushes I’ve found for this generally come from Zoeva, they have such a huge array of eye brushes so you can pretty much achieve any look you can think of. As well as a fluffy shader brush I’m also a big fan of a flat shadow brush if I’m using a pressed product as I find that they are the best for really packing on the colour. Brow wise I’m using a pencil at the moment so haven’t used a brush in quite a while but for years my go-to has been this simple angled brush. It’s from a brand called Nude By Nature (PR sample) and it came in a set so I can’t say exactly what model it is but it’s the perfect size and density for me. I find if an angled brush is too small and fine then it doesn’t really do anything but then a large brush applies far too much product and leaves harsh lines that are difficult to blend out.
