Current Skincare Picks
I've been quiet on the skincare front for a few months now, it is rare that I introduce new products permanently into my routine and I've learnt that consistency is key. The last time I spoke about my routine was back in February and since then I've switched a few products around and boy do I have a happy complexion at the moment. A couple of products haven't altered like the Garnier Micellar Water and La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo as they are complete staples for me but let me tell you about what is new on the skincare scene.
This year has been the year of the gel cleanser for me, I had always listened to other people who said they were terrible for your complexion and stripped it completely. Granted some probably do but my favourite has got to be the Claudia Louch Chamomille Face Wash*, the formula is beautiful and chamomille has quickly become one of my favourite ingredients as it works so well on my skin. It removes any last scraps of make up and is perfect in the morning too as it is so gentle yet refreshing. For my second step of evening cleanse is the Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm*, I had strayed away from balm cleansers over the warmer months but now I can't get enough of them once again. This is the most luxurious balm I've ever used, it leaves my skin beautifully soft without being too heavy or leaving a greasy film on the skin. Both pricy cleanser options but the combination of them both have been making my skin incredibly happy.
My love for a chemical exfoliant is no secret, I can't get enough of them. I'm currently using the Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser and I'm still amazed at just how well this works, it does contain alcohol but doesn't dry out my skin at all. I'm going to make a bold statement and say that I think this is the reason that I've not had a spot in nearly 3 months, my skin hasn't been this clear in years. I like to follow up with the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist*, I love rose and this is my favourite rosewater toner by far. It is so refreshing and like it says it keeps the skin balanced and that is something I really strive for within my skincare routine. Of course after toning I always pop on some Effaclar Duo and follow up with the Claudia Louch Hydrating Mango Face Cream*. This has quickly become one of the best moisturisers I've ever used, even above my Origins ones and that is saying something. It is packed full of moisture yet it sinks in so quickly and never pills when putting make up on straight after which is an issue I have with some that I've tried. Again pricy but such a beautiful product and I absolutely love the fact it has a pump as it just seems so much more hygienic. I'm nearing the end of this sadly but I know after I've finished it I will return straight back to the Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream* as that will be perfect in the really cold months.
