My Go To Beauty Brands
With a plethora of beauty brands up and down the high street with varying price points we really are spoilt for choice. Up until I was 21 I only shopped in the likes of Boots and Superdrug and it has took me a while to start to explore the realms of more expensive beauty brands and I'm still exploring now. There are a few stand out brands when I look at my make up stocks and they are definitely the ones I always end up gravitating towards.
A brand that really reminds me of being a teenager is Bourjois, I remember my sister having this little round pot purple eyeshadow that I was forever stealing. There isn't a product from the line that I've not loved, apart from the bases being on the dark side (please make lighter shades Bourjois?). The price points do sit on the higher end of the high street but in my opinion the products are worth those few extra pennies. A few of my favourite products are the Happy Light Foundation, Rouge Edition Lipstick, Cream Touch Blushes, Magic Nail Polish Remover, Java Rice Powder and Healthy Mix Concealer.
I've never considered myself much of a MAC lover but when looking through my stocks there are a lot of products from the brand that I use daily and are some of my all time favourite items. Although I don't know if I'm alone with how hard I find it to shop in my local store, it is always crammed full and never do the sale assistants help so for that reason I mostly just order online. That aside I always feel like with the MAC price tags they aren't completely crazy for a high end brand, considering Tom Ford Lipsticks are nearing on £40 it doesn't make their £15 too crazy. Some of my go to products from MAC are the Mineralize Skin Finishes, Lipsticks, Eyeshadows, Studio Sculpt Foundation and Mineralize Skin Finish Natural.
I think Rimmel is the high street brand with the best prices considering the quality of the products. Especially within the past year or two they've brought out some absolutely fantastic items and if I had to pick one brand to shop from for the future it would probably be Rimmel. They don't win on the packaging awards but the products inside are really great and my favourites have to be the Match Perfection Foundation, Lash Accelerator Mascara, Apocolips Lip Lacquers, 60 Second Polishes, Kate Moss Lipsticks and Salon Pro Polishes.
Oh YSL you just make my heart flutter with that luxe gold packaging. Now obviously this is an expensive brand there is no doubting but they are my favourite high end option. Although I've not tried everything they have to offer and I was slightly let down by their infamous Rouge Volupte lipsticks, pretty shades yes but the formulation was a little off for my taste. Their bases are the real stars for me, it is the only brand I get excited about releasing something new and save up my pennies to purchase. These picks will come to no surprise to any of you but they are the Youth Liberator Foundation, Touche Eclat, Babydoll Mascara and Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation.
It is only within the last couple of years that I've really discovered Revlon as a brand. It was the whole Lip Butter trend that started it off and since then I've tried quite a few of their products and loved them. One of my favourite things about the brand is that they are just a safe option, they don't go crazy with their trends and instead work hard on creating a solid line of products. A couple of my go to's are the Nearly Naked Foundation, Lip Butters, Matte Balms and PhotoReady Cream Blush.
When I was a teen buying a make up item from L'Oreal was considered a real treat because they are up there on the price scale. Again like Revlon I always find that they play it safe with their releases which means there is something for everybody no matter what age. Out of the all the high street brands I find that L'Oreal definitely bring it when it comes to shade range which is something that cheaper brands seem to neglect. My favourites are the True Match Foundation, Telescopic Mascara, True Match Powder, Rouge Caresse Lipsticks, Volume Million Lashes and Lumi Magique Foundation.
Just for Blush
I'm a little bit of a blush obsessive, just see this post for reference so I've tried more than my fair share of formulations. Two of my favourite brands for blush have to be Stila for creams, the Convertible Colours have a beautiful formulation and finish to the skin. I've got mention Nars Douceur too, Nars are well known for their blushes and this shade is absolutely beautiful for sculpting the cheeks too.
