The Best Balms

I'm a lip balm fanatic, it is the beauty product that I seem to buy and buy even though I have enough to last me years. Gone are the days that a pot of Vaseline will suffice, oh no I'm too lost in the world of heavy duty and tinted options to be happy with just a pot of petroleum jelly. I've rounded up the best of the best here from day to night.

The Nuxe Rêve de Miel* is something I generally reserve to using at night because of the thick consistency but it works wonderfully under a matte lipstick during the day. A lip balm with a lot of hype and it is easy to understand why, it makes any dryness completely disappear over night and it smells like a chocolate orange so what more can you want? It unusual in the fact it is doesn't add any shine or gloss to the lips like most balms do and this is why it can work so well under a lipstick.

If the rumours are true and they really have dis-continued the Dior Creme de Rose then I apologise now. This was the first really expensive lip balm I ever bought and oh it is so beautiful, I absolutely adore it. It is so light on the lips and leaves a lovely milky sheen whilst providing a lot of hydration. I'm trying to use this very sparingly at the moment until I know if it is ever coming back and if it isn't then there will forever a Dior Creme de Rose hole in my life.

Two balms that are very similar in the shade are the Lanolips Lip Ointment in Rose* and the Burt's Bees Tinted Balm in Pink Blossom. The Lanoplips option is absolutely perfect for applying when I'm not in the mood for a lipstick, it adds a really pretty wash of colour to the lips and wears evenly throughout the day. Another one I love from the brand is their Lemonaid Lip Aid which helps to get rid of any pesky dry patches without the use of a lip scrub. When I'm on the go I always have the Burt's Bees Tinted Balm in Pink Blossom as it is in a stick so I'm not having to stick my fingers into a pot and spread bacteria. Often I find tinted balms don't work very well at adding moisture but these two do and then some.
