The Quest for Fuller & Thicker Hair

Long term readers of From Roses will know my on going question for fuller and thicker hair and I think I've finally worked out some kind of routine for myself. I must have tried hundreds and hundreds of hair products now and seriously the struggle is real to find the ones that actually work. Although I've got a lot of hair on my head it is very fine and it is hard to keep any bounce in it without it falling flat within five minutes. So I've rounded up the best that I have found for giving me some serious volume and the illusion of thicker hair.

Shampoo & Conditioner:
Whenever picking up a new shampoo & conditioner I always used to go towards the ones that promised to give me volume but in the recent months that has all changed. The Bumble & Bumble Seaweed Shampoo & Conditioner* was something I never thought I would love as much as I do. A mildly clarifying option that leaves my hair so clean it leaves a lot of natural bounce and also unbelievably shiny tresses. Going for something that just aims to cleanse the hair whilst providing moisture I think works so much better on my hair as it lets the styling products work a lot better rather than weighing it down.

Sprays / Lotions / Foams:
When I've washed my hair I then go onto styling products and I've tried more than my fair share in my time and narrowed it down to a select few that I use on rotation. The Organix Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen Roost Boost Spray has been my latest find thanks to my sister and I've really been enjoying it for adding body to my hair. As it is full of collagen and protein I don't like to use this too often as it can easily cause damage and break the hair. Something I used a lot last summer was the Neal & Wolf Elevate Volumising Lotion* which is something that I use through the roots and a little through the lengths. This does add a a lot of volume but applying too much can make the hair sticky and no one wants that feeling in their hair. A foam was a product I was a little wary of trying as I have horrible memories of crispy mousse curls from school. However the GHD Total Volume Foam* gives the results that mousse gives but with the lightness of a foam.  Finally is a spray that I remember using in my teens and it is the TRESemme 24 Hour Body Dramatic Blow Dry Lotion I use this throughout my roots and then blow dry my hair upside down and it really helps give my hair lift without making my hair sticky or crispy.

Styling:
I've always been quite cautious of the volumising pomades and other things in that nature but the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Creme Contour really surprised me. I work a small amount of this in my fingers and massage in my roots and thick slightly through the lengths and it gives me that undone texture as well as a boost of volume. Over the past couple of years there have been a lot of releases of texturising/volumising sprays and the most coveted has been the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray but I just refuse to shell out that much money so I've found a couple of alternatives. My favourite is the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texture Spray which gives me so much volume and texture to my hair that really stays and I can see me using this until they stop making it. It also has a lovely scent that lingers in the hair too. Something similar but without the slight hairspray aspect to it is the L'Oreal Volume Supersizing Spray and this creates quite a matte look to the hair which can be quite beachy. Out of the two I do prefer the Charles Worthington just because it seems to hold my hair a lot more but if you did just want a quick fix for volume this is a good one too.
