Is loose powder worth the faff?
Loose powder reminds of make up that is always used in some sort of 1920's film like Titanic or The Duchess and most of them have the old fashioned scent too. I'm a fuss free kind of girl and this is hardly a product that screams use me I'm super simple and won't go all over your carpet (it has happened more than once) now is it? Over the last few weeks I have really enjoyed adding a couple into my collection and whilst I do have to be ridiculously careful the leave a pretty result on the skin so maybe they are worth the faff.
The Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder is a truly old fashioned make up product, it is that talc type powder but it doesn't leave a white cast to the skin. I find it quite difficult to dispense the right amount of powder with this and that complimentary powder puff was removed straight away as if you leave this in here it just sucks up all the product. Whilst the packaging isn't the best even though it does contain a mirror which is always a plus but it is whats inside that counts. I really like this as it rose scented and lightly swept on my t-zone it leaves the skin smooth and set without looking too heavy and matte. Sometimes mattifying powders can make my complexion look a bit drab and dry but this just leaves it looking natural and helps my make up last throughout the day.
Bourjois released this limited edition java rice powder as a celebration of their 150 years making beauty products and since have added it to the permanent line. When I first starting seeing a plethora of reviews I wondered if it was a little too shimmery to be used a setting powder but once on the skin it leaves a beautiful iridescence and blurs over imperfections. The packaging is slightly more practical but it would have been nice if there was a mirror in the lid as it would have made touch ups a lot more simple. With a twist to release kind of mechanism it really helps to dispense a reasonable amount of product that I tap into the lid as it is the best way not to flick powder everywhere with my brush.
Are you a fan of loose powder or it is too much of a faff for you?
