Toning Trio

Toning is most definitely for me my routine just isn't the same when I miss that vital step and I have new toning duo and an old favourite. Years ago a toner was just for removing any remaining cleanser or make up but nowadays it is a lot more beneficial to the skin. Like many I have two stages the first exfoliating and then the hydrating and this has made a world of difference in my skin tone and texture. I am quite prone to blemishes but these days are a lot less often apart from the odd hormonal/stress outbreak.

The La Roche Posay Effaclar line is something I really get along with and we all know how much I go on and on about the Effaclar Duo. I had ran out of the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner and the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner so I was the hunt for something else and upon wandering the isles of Boots with my sister I stumbled across this. The La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion Micro Exfoliant which contains salicylic acid rather than glycolic which I know is something that my skin reacts well to so I didn't know what to expect. This is quite astringent which you would expect so I don't think this would work well on sensitive or dry complexions but for me it has been doing just the job. Any blemishes are kept under control and my pores are looking a lot clearer and less obvious especially around my nose. It doesn't work as well as reducing scars as the two I have previously used but I have since ordered the Pixi Glow Tonic so we shall see how it compares but when my skin is particularly spotty I will definitely be reaching for this.

This might be shock to you but I really like anything that contains rose, I jest of course it is all in the title of my blog and I have numerous roses tattooed around my body. I have always found that rose works so well in toners and I have used the Boots Botanics Rosehip Toning Spritz and loved it for years now so when the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist* made its way into my life I knew we would get on. I used this after the LRP and it makes me skin feel so soft and really ready for the next steps in my routine, the rose really helps my skin feel balanced which is vital for my complexion. The Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic* is an oldie but such a goodie and it just reminds me of my early blogging days and I had forgotten just how comforting it is on the skin. With ingredients such as camomile and cucumber if ever my skin is looking a little ragged and stressed I always reach for this as it is just so calming and comforting.
