My Grand Perfume Library; Most Loved & Most Used
Perfume is something that I've always had a soft spot for, going and testing them out and coming home with about a billion tester strips is a fond teenage memory of mine. Spraying on my selected fragrance every morning is something that makes me feel truly ready for the day so with that being said I've acquired quite a few scents. I didn't realise quite how many till I went round and counted them all and I have nearly 30 in my collection, now that is a hefty amount for anybody and I have absolutely no reason to have that many. Some I've had for years and cling onto for sentimental reasons but a lot have been added to my scent library in the past year so if you're a little bit obsessed with fragrance then here's my most used and loved.
jo malone
If you've followed me for a while then you will already know that Jo Malone is one of my most loved brands of all time when it comes to fragrance. I've shopped from them for years now so it's safe to say I've got my favourites and they are;
- White Jasmine & Mint - sweet and chic without being completely overbearing and sickly.
- Blackberry & Bay - warm and musky but still something that you can wear throughout the year.
- Peony & Blush Suede - smells like freshly poured champagne, the most wonderful S/S scent.
- Mimosa & Cardamom* - rich and warming, absolutely perfect for Autumn.
- Dark Amber & Gingerlily* - the most delicious scent of all, if there was ever a scent I could describe as sexy it's this. Very rich and warming with a sweet hint to it.
- Poppy & Barley* - very much like the dark amber & gingerlily but a little fresher, a great option for all year round.
- Jasmine Sambac & Marigold*: a new launch that is absolutely delicious, the sweet jasmine and the marigold work perfectly together. A great all year round any occasion type of scent.
katy perry
I've said this so many times, but typically celebrity fragrances really are not my thing at all. There are only a couple that I actually like and one of them comes from Katy Perry. Now the name and the packaging of this scent does the product inside absolutely no favours. I'm sure like most people reading this I find the packaging very important when it comes to products. The scent is very similar the Jo Malone Dark Amber & Gingerlily but with a little bit more coconut to it which is what I love. It's something that I found myself reaching for all throughout the cooler seasons but because of the coconut, it means it's perfect for warmer weather too. When it comes to more affordable fragrances I do generally find they're long lasting on the skin which of course, we all want.
penhaligon's
This is hands down the most luxurious fragrance in my collection and it's absolutely beautiful. Every time I take off the cap of this perfume I'm instantly hit with the undeniably decadent scent of Savoy Steam*. The notes of this fragrance are dreamy; rosemary oil tunisia, pink pepper, rose essential, geranium absolute and incense resinoid. It's a floral scent, of course with the inclusion of rose and geranium but the pink pepper adds a little bit of a kick to it. It's something that I can reach for regardless of the season but it's particularly lovely in the warmer months. It lasts for an absolute age on the skin but for the price, you had better hope it would because it's incredibly expensive. It's probably not something you would buy yourself but for an occasion like a wedding, it's definitely something to look into.
thierry mugler
When I think of Thierry Mugler fragrances I without a doubt think of marmite. Now let me explain a little as it sounds strange but I think they're either something that you absolutely love or something you're not keen on at all, some may even say vomit inducing. When the scents Alien* and Angel* arrived into my life I was excited to give them a try and see what these cult scents were really like and I adore them both. Angel has notes of; bergamot, sweet red fruits, vanilla, caramel, and patchouli whilst Alien has notes of; Sambac jasmine, cashmeran wood, white amber. When I want more of a sweet floral kick then I will always reach for angel as you can really detect the fruits and when I want something really deep and woody then Alien is perfect. The two are incredibly long lasting and are instantly detectable on the skin which is something I love, when it comes to scent I'm not an understated type of girl.
aCqua di parma
For a long time, I would gaze at Acqua Di Parma scents in Space NK, sniff a few and then wander off as they left me feeling ever so slightly confused. However the scent Peonia Nobile* doesn't leave me confused, it makes me feel like I'm laying in thousands of peonies. Which is what every blogger wants right?! The scent notes are; pepper, bergamot, mandarin orange, rose, violet, lili-of-the-valley, peony, musk, ambergris, cedar. Heavily floral based of course but it does have that kick of musk which makes it more wearable. I can't say that this scent is something that is for everybody but if you're into florals, you will love this.
stella mccartney
This is my second bottle of the cult classic original Stella* scent and when I smell it I'm instantly filled with nostalgia. It's a scent that can work any occasion and any time of year, so if you're a one perfume only kind of girl then this may be one for you. It's a rose fragrance but you wouldn't know it because it doesn't have that traditional [some may say elderly] floral twang to it. The notes are; rose, peony flower, mandarin, rose absolute, amber. The inclusion of the amber is what makes me love this so much as it's probably my all-time favourite scent note. Again, a seriously long lasting fragrance and when you spray this on your clothes you'll be able to smell it for days and another one that you'll instantly be able to detect on others too.
honorary mentions
- Tom Ford Orchid Soleil* - a unique musky floral that wears beautifully throughout the day.
- Clean Reserve Terra Woods* - fresh vanilla meets musk with a hint of floral over the top, one of to wear AM or PM all year round.
- Escentric Molecule o2* - if gin & tonic was made into a perfume it would be this, it's summer in a bottle.
