My All Time Favourite Ways To Treat Myself
I'm always interested to know how different people like to treat and pamper themselves. Some people love nothing more than relaxing with a new book and others might consider running or exercise their favourite thing to do when they want to unwind. I'm excited to share my favourites with you today and of course, I want to hear all about yours.
CANDLES
Even though I started using aroma diffusers a while ago to scent my space. There is something so comforting about candles that they just cannot be beaten for when you really want to treat yourself to a relaxing evening. Although you can pick them up at any price point if you're really in the mood to spoil yourself brands like Diptyque and Jo Malone are my favourite brands to shop from. One of the best things about more high-end candle options is that even when they're not lit they throw their scent incredibly well.
HAND MASSAGE & MANICURE
Out of all the beauty rituals I have, I think giving myself a nice manicure and hand massage has to be my favourite. I don't know what it is but having a great manicure makes me feel ready to take on the world like nothing else. Which sounds totally overdramatic and slightly ridiculous but it's just one of those rituals that can completely change my mood. Even if I don't bother to do anything else like my hair or makeup just having my nails done can make me feel so fresh. As we're going into the summer months I've been reaching for those classic red based pinks and orange toned reds that always make the hands look instantly healthier.
BOOKS
Reading is a fail safe way to treat yourself and unwind and it's one of those rituals that never gets old. I always like to read when my mind feels horribly busy and strained and it's one of the only things that I've found to make my mind feel calm once again. It's something that I like to do in the morning when I eat my breakfast instead of sitting scrolling through social media. And then in the evening right before I go to sleep so my mind totally switches off and I can get a better nights rest. Books I'm currently enjoying;
- Reasons To Stay Alive - Matt Haig
- The Goldfinch - Donna Tartt
- Wild - Cheryl Strayed
- Big Magic - Elizabeth Gilbert
KNITTING
I'd been wanting to pick knitting back up for a long time as it's something that I learnt to do as a child but lost the knack for it. I love that it's something that is super relaxing and therapeutic but you get to do something productive at the same time. It takes a little while to get the knack of knitting and get into the swing of it. But once you do it feels quite natural and you can do it without concentrating too much so it's perfect for doing whilst watching Netflix or listening to a podcast. Although it's probably cheaper to buy a scarf, hat or jumper from a shop than knitting it yourself as wool is pretty pricey. It's definitely not as satisfying as making something yourself.
