Introducing Sarah From Daydreams Of Summertime
Today I'm talking to the lovely lifestyle blogger Sarah who is the girl behind Daydreams Of Summertime.
Tell us about yourself Sarah?
Hi! I am Sarah, an aspiring photographer, who has a very serious case of wanderlust! I am originally from Kent but have lived in Scotland and Australia, I currently live in South Yorkshire with my Boyfriend Carl and dog Leo. I write a lifestyle and travel blog called Daydreams of Summertime.
What got you into blogging?
I started Daydreams of Summertime in March of 2013 but didn't really know what I was doing and had no real direction so after a few months it fell by the wayside. However, towards the end of that year I had become really interested in photography and had just bought a new DSLR camera and I was looking for a creative outlet to pursue it further so started my blog up again. That was a year and a half ago and now I can't imagine a life without blogging. I have met so many wonderful like-minded people and made some great friends through blogging.
Tell us more about your lovely blog?
Daydreams of Summertime is where I write about my life, loves and inspirations. I use it as a way of documenting both the big and little adventures in my life. I like to think it is a positive place where my readers can feel inspired and part of a little community, and obviously there are a lot of photo's too!
Apart from running your blog, what do you get up to?
At the moment I am working full time but that is all set to change next month as I am taking a little career break to focus on pushing my photography further and just be more creative generally. As I mentioned earlier I love to travel, so when I am not blogging I am usually planning trips, whether they be locally or further afield.
What keeps you inspired when you hit a slump?
Photography. If I hit a slump I often take some time out and go exploring with my camera for some inspiration. Other bloggers definitely keep my inspired too.
The best things about blogging?
Without a doubt the sense of community there is. I have made so many wonderful friends through blogging and I can honestly say taking up blogging was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life!
What are your favourite things about living in Yorkshire?
There is just so much to see and do. Yorkshire has some stunningly beautiful countryside but also some awesome cities such as Sheffield, York and Leeds - there really is something for everyone. Lately, it also feels like there is a bit of a creative buzz around certain places such as Sheffield which is exciting. Plus, where I live is pretty much in the middle of the country which makes it so easy to visit other great places such as Manchester and London.
How do you keep writers block at bay?
Writers block is the worst and it can just come from nowhere! It happens to me every so often and the best thing I can do is to just take a break and do something else that inspires and relaxes me such as photography. Usually just taking a short break from blogging and having little bit of ‘me’ time clears my mind and usually when I return to blogging I am full of ideas.
Your current favourites?
My beauty essential item is coconut oil, it is so versatile and does wonders for my skin, and I have been using it as a cleanser and moisturiser. Fashion wise I am obsessed with H&M at the moment! I am about to go on holiday to Kefalonia and have bought most of my holiday wardrobe from there. My current favourite book is Deliciously Ella, she has so many great healthy recipes that are so easy to make, and it is my most used cookbook by far!
What are some of your favourite blogs at the moment?
The Littlest Things: Sophie’s photography of Sydney is amazing and always makes me wish I still lived there.
LifeOutside London: Michelle is one of the most talented writers I have come across and she always has me in stitches with her awesome sense of humour!
Nishaantishu: Freya is such an inspiration as her photography is just stunning. I am always admiring and learning from it.
What is to come on your blog in the future?
I honestly have so many ideas for Daydreams of Summertime. Now that I will have a bit more time I really want to see where I can take my little space. I have a photography series I will be starting soon which I am very excited about and I want to include some home interior posts as my boyfriend and I have just done up our new house. I am actually really excited for the future of my blog!
