Everything That I've Been Reading, Watching and Listening To Lately
One of my biggest dreams is to spend Sunday going on a crisp morning dog walk and then spending the rest of the day catching up with my favourite blogs, viewing my most loved YouTube channels and maybe watching a few hours of TV. But as I pretty much always work the weekends [through my own choice] that isn't going to happen anytime soon. However if you are spending your Sunday in my dream situation then here is everything that I've been reading, listening to and watching lately.
READING
LIFE AS FREELANCER - STRUGGLES AND SOLUTIONS - FREYA DAWSON
LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN BLOG PHOTOGRAPHY - LIKE NEON LOVE
- Jasmine always creates the most beautiful content and I absolutely adored this post from her. And this one in particular really spoke to me, I've always felt a ton of pressure of having to explain myself and my creativity. But in reality, I really don't need to and this was such a lovely reminder of that.
- I'm always so quick to read any posts about being a freelancer because I want to know how other people handle the whole being your own boss thing. Freya and I have a very similar process when it comes to how we handle it. Something that she did talk about that I don't have anymore is work wife which is something I would love to have as I think it's so, so important.
- Tenneil has always had an awesome photography style. But this year I feel like she's really upped her game so this post was such an awesome read.
WATCHING
GREY'S ANATOMY
Ever since I watched Grey's for the first time two years ago I became so obsessed with it honestly it's a little problematic. And whenever it comes back on TV I'm so excited and this season hasn't disappointed so far. I will say that it's nowhere near as good as the older seasons but it's still such a wonderful show and I've already got all my hopes pinned on Japril [if you watch the show, you know].
AMERICAN HORROR STORY CULT
The last few seasons of AHS haven't been my favourite, to be honest. And when I watched the first episode of Cult I really wasn't a fan and thought it would be a bit of a crappy season but in the last couple of episodes, it's really picked up. It's quite a topical season but I like that as it brings up issues that are things that society is dealing with on a daily basis. If you don't like clowns or holes then definitely do not watch this show as it's a little horrifying [like you would expect].
LISTENING
FULL COVERAGE PODCAST
A show from makeup lover and author Lindsey Kelk and Harriet Hadfield, a professional makeup artist. It's a conversation all about beauty from the latest releases in the market to their favourite products. Obviously, I adore beauty and spend my time writing about it so I'm bound to love listening to others have a conversation about beauty too.
WALKING THE DOG PODCAST
I always save episodes of Walking the Dog for when I walk my own dog. Emily Dean interviews celebrities whilst walking their dogs and it's just as wonderful as it sounds. They not only chat about everything from career to mental health but there is plenty of talk about dogs too which of course is my favourite part.
BOOKS
MAD GIRL - BRYONY GORDON
Something that I've never spoken about on my blog or anywhere online is that over two years ago I got diagnosed with severe OCD. It's something that I've struggled with for as long as I can remember but in my twenties, it became really severe and incredibly hard to deal with. And it's not something that I love to speak about, it's something I still deal with on a daily basis and this book from Bryony Gordon is one of the most comforting things I've read. It made me realise I'm not alone in my struggles and it was such a brilliant book that I'd recommend to anyone who struggles with their mental health. It's so painfully honest but it's not miserable and that is not something I find often when it comes to MH struggles.
GET YOUR SH*T TOGETHER - SARAH KNIGHT
I'm not done with this book I'm about halfway through but I thought I'd share some thoughts anyway. I wanted to love this book and there are some good parts of it that do give you a boost but in general, I find it so painfully arrogant. I think if maybe I was a little younger I would have lapped it up and Knight does have some great points but in general, life just doesn't work in the way she seems to believe. Not everyone can do everything in the way that she's written and it's just so cut and dry. Maybe when I finish it I might feel a little differently but so far I'm just a little irritated by it.
