An Ode To The French Pharmacy

There are lots of wonderful things that come to mind when I think of France. But their pharmacy and beauty brands are probably my favourites as well as macarons of course. I've rounded 4 of my favourite French brands to share with you today.

BIODERMA

Whenever I think of the French Pharmacy the first brand that pops into my mind is Bioderma. Of course, they are the original when it comes to micellar water and some would say the best but their line offers so much more than that. The brand was founded in 1977 and the ethos and reasoning behind it are absolutely fascinating. They pride themselves on understanding how to maintain your skin and keep it in the most healthy state you possibly can. The brand has slowly been making its way over the UK so it's not completely impossible to get hold of any more like it once was.

LA ROCHE POSAY

Possibly my all time favourite French pharmacy brand has to be La Roche Posay, I completely owe my almost crystal clear complexion to one of their products. The brand launched in the 1920's but it wasn't properly established until the 70's and ever since then they've worked hard to create skincare that dermatologists would use and recommend but for it to be available to everyone. It's one of those brands that I would suggest anyone looks into because they cater to a huge array of skin types and concerns but their products aren't ridiculously overpriced.

GALLINÉE

This is the newest skincare brand that I've had the pleasure of getting to know. Gallinée is a brand who have something in their products that I've never used before and that is probiotics, which is something that I've only ever heard about being included in yoghurt drinks. Their history begins with the microbiome, which to put simply is all the good bacteria and organisms that live inside you. It's all too easy to damage those things by lifestyle choice, diet and general day to day living etc. And what Gallinée have done is taken that microbiome and put it into skincare so we're getting it back. I think the ethos behind this brand is absolutely fascinating and every single product I've used for them has had undeniably great results.

CAUDALIE

Caudalie is a brand that I would have never known about if it wasn't for the blogging world. Their tale begins in France [of course] on a vineyard so if you were unaware the majority of the brand's products have grapes and vine in their ingredients list. According to the founder's grapes and their vines can do exceptional things to the skin and I have to say that I believe them. Their products are probably much more affordable in France then they are over here in the UK as I personally think they are more a high-end brand. But if you're in the mood to treat yourself to some truly delicious skincare or body care products than I'd recommend looking into Caudalie.
