A Few Awesome Reasons To Start A Blog
One of the most popular questions when it comes to blogging is 'why did you start?'. And it's something that I absolutely love to find out as we all have our own reasons for creating our own little online space. Today I wanted to share what I think are the best reasons to start your own blog. So if it's something that you've been thinking about then I hope today's post can inspire you to make the leap and create something wonderful.
CREATE A PLACE TO ESCAPE
This is the reason that I started my blog. I was at university and felt super stifled by what I was doing in my degree so I really craved a place where I could share anything I felt like. Whether it was what hair oil I was using or what I wanted to buy in Urban Outfitters [my first post]. And even though my blog is certainly a lot different now it's still somewhere that I come to get away from the noise of day to day life. It's not just the people behind the blogs that use them for an escape but it's also a place for the people reading them to escape too. And that's one of the biggest reasons why I still love the blogging world so much. There is always the argument about people being super realistic and share every element of their personal life but I believe that often takes away from why they started blogging initially.
SHARE SOMETHING YOU'RE PASSIONATE ABOUT
When you feel super passionate about something that's maybe not typically what people in your day to day life are interested in. Having an outlet where you can freely talk and share your thoughts on said subject is awesome. It's also a way that you might find other people who also share the same interests as you and you find an entire community that you might not have known about otherwise. So often people think blogging is just fashion, business, lifestyle or beauty but you can write a blog on absolutely anything and there will be people out there who are interested in what you have to say.
TO CONNECT WITH LIKE MINDED PEOPLE
Like I mentioned earlier when you share something online that you're passionate about it opens up a whole new community of people who share the same interests. Even though I'm a pretty shy blogger and a classic introvert [even online]. I've met some of my favourite people through blogging and meet new people every day. Once you've done with all the stages of education it can be incredibly hard to meet new people, especially like minded individuals but blogging can really break down those barriers.
GIVE OTHERS THE GIFT OF KNOWLEDGE
Other than having a place to escape the second biggest reason why I love blogging so much is that it's an incredible place to learn. There isn't a day go by that I don't Google some sort of query and end up on a blog and learning something new. Of course, not every single thing that you read on the internet is factual but there is still so much knowledge to be had from the opinions of others. I'm sure I'm not alone since completing my degree with feeling like it's so hard to learn something new. And you don't have to be an expert in the field to talk about something. Because there is a big difference in telling people what to do and simply sharing your thoughts and experiences.
To Share Difficult topics that COULD HELP OTHERS
One of the most simple forms of blogging is sharing your own story. Sharing and shedding light on those really tough topics that we could all face at some point can be incredibly helpful to others. And we might not ever realise just how much one post could benefit someone else's life. One of the most important things the blogging world has given me is the knowledge that it's ok not to know where you're going in life and feeling lost is completely normal. As well of course giving me insights that completely changed the state of my skin. Which might sound shallow but having bad skin can reek havoc on your happiness.
TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT'S COMPLETELY YOURS
Having something that's completely yours away from the responsibility of day to day life is something that's rare to find. But I think blogging is one of those things that no matter what it might evolve into. In the beginning when no-one is reading and it's a place that is completely yours to do what you like with and that's such a wonderful thing to experience.
What do you think are the best reasons to start blogging?
