5 Layering Pieces To Add To Your Wardrobe For A/W & Outfit Ideas
In two days we'll officially be in Autumn and that means it's probably a good time to start thinking about the pieces in your wardrobe that you can layer. As much as I love Autumn I find it incredibly hard to dress for as there are often beautifully warm summer like days and then the next its ice cold. So layering is key and here are my all time favourite staples for the season.
THE CAMISOLE
A well fitting good quality camisole is something that I think every girl should have in her wardrobe. They can be worn alone when it's warm or layered under heavy knits or shirts in the cooler months for extra warmth when you need it. I don't think there is anything that the camisole doesn't look good with either and they are something that can be dressed up and or down depending on the occasion. So they're not only a great piece for layering but they're also a piece that can see you through all the seasons and they're completely timeless.

THE PINAFORE
Pinafores tend to be a little bit of a hit or miss item. Some people love them and some might deem them only suitable for children. But I love them and I think they make great layering pieces. I think the most important thing when it comes to wearing a pinafore is finding one that's well cut and flattering. Personally, I've found Topshop offers the nicest range of pinafores on the high street and even though they're a little more expensive they're a piece that lasts and can see you through all seasons comfortably.

THE OXFORD OR FLANNEL SHIRT
An oxford shirt is something that I believe is a true wardrobe staple regardless of its ability to layer either over or under other items. A more seasonally appropriate piece is the classic flannel shirt. You can find flannel shirts in so many different styles, patterns, weights and price points. And they're something that can easily be added into your wardrobe as they go with so many outfits, smart or casual.

THE LIGHTWEIGHT JUMPER
No matter what the season is I like to have a lightweight jumper in my wardrobe. They're something that can be styled in so many different ways with so many other pieces. You can wear a lightweight knit underneath things like pinafores or paired with something simple like an A-line skirt or jeans. And of course, they're perfect for going over the top of shirts, t-shirts and camisoles. There are so many different styles of lightweight jumpers that you're bound to find something that works for your style. Personally, I either like to go for either a fine knit or a sweatshirt style.

THE JUMPER OR SHIRT-DRESS
Dresses are probably my all time favourite clothing piece due to how comfortable they are but they're also the easiest piece to style. And even though I'd love to be able to wear my favourite floaty summer numbers all year round it's just not an option when you live in the UK. So styles like the jumper and shirt-dress are ideal for the transitional season, tights and jumpers can be added and taken away with ease and you still have a complete outfit.
