4 Beauty Products To Get You Through The Festive Season
The festive season is amazing for so many things, we get to see our loved ones a little more than usual, eat a tonne of delicious food and take a little bit of time off. But personally, I think it's an absolutely terrible time for our skin as we're so busy and probably not paying all that much attention to our complexion so things can easily go awry especially when you have problematic skin. So here are some of my favourite skincare products to reach for when I'm not treating my skin as well as I could be.
THE I'M SPOTTY BUT MY SKIN FEELS LIKE THE DESERT MASK
I've mentioned this mask way too much recently but I just can't help myself. The Antipodes Manuka Honey mask is the perfect option for Winter, even though my skin is typically more oily it cannot handle the harsh winter winds and dry patches around my nose and eyes always flare up. The manuka honey is not only a natural antibacterial so it helps with any breakouts, calms them and hydrates the skin too. When you've got dry or dehydrated skin so often clarifying masks can just make your skin feel even worse. So this the best in-between I've ever come across as it clarifies as well as hydrates and I truly do believe is a one of a kind. And it doesn't dry down either which is something that I have a big love-hate relationship with as masks that do this as they're such a nightmare to remove.
THE MY SKIN FEELS DIRE AND NEEDS SOME HELP MOISTURISER
My current moisturiser of choice is the Gallineé Hydrating Face Cream*. I'm keeping my moisturisers simple at the moment and going for something that simply aims to deeply nourish and repair the skin over something too complex. If you're not familiar with the Gallineé range they use probiotics in their skincare to help restore the good bacteria in our skin which is easily damaged from day to day living. This not only feels wonderful on the skin as it's so nourishing [yet lightweight, don't fear oily skinned girls] but you can tell it's doing some good too. As it's so rich in ingredients you only need to use a small amount to notice a difference.
THE MY EYE BAGS ARE BIGGER THAN MY EYES RIGHT NOW FIX
Dark circles aren't something I really struggle with but eye bags, however, well I know them all too well. And sometimes when you have eye bags so big they make you look like you've got two more eyelids you need some help. The Liz Earle Soothing Eye Lotion*, when kept in the fridge and doused over two cotton round and laid on the eyes for 10 minutes or so, can really help sooth and calm things down. It always helps to remove any makeup remnants that might be hanging around too.
THE MY SKIN LOOKS SO SAD AND LACKLUSTRE MASK
The Body Shop Superfood masks have really wowed me lately and one that I can't wait to apply when my skin feels lacklustre is the British Rose Plumping Mask*. The gel feels incredible on the skin and it would be perfect to use in the morning before makeup application to really wake the skin up. The beautiful blends of roses help to not only tone but hydrate the complexion too and finally the aloe vera calms the skin. It's a little messy to apply as it's quite runny in consistency but with an old makeup brush, it makes light work of distributing an even layer onto the skin.
