3 Of The Best Primer & Foundation Combinations

Much like any serious beauty lover out there I've tested out more than my fair share of foundations and primers. And without a doubt, they're my all time favourite beauty products to test out because you can pretty much tell instantly whether something works out for you and then with a couple more tries you can really get a feel for it. Foundation is almost a standard when it comes to a beauty routine but a primer is something you're either a believer in or you're not and I'm a convert to primers and never skip then when I know I'm going to be out all day. So here are a few awesome primer and foundation combinations that might be perfect for you.

THE FRESH FACE DAY TO DAY

LAURA MERCIER FOUNDATION PRIMER & THE RIMMEL MATCH PERFECTION FOUNDATION

The Laura Mercier Foundation Primer isn't something I've always loved as it felt like it wasn't doing too much in terms of longevity for my base lasting on my skin. However, the biggest thing that this primer does for me is keeping my skin looking fresh and vibrant throughout the day as well as keeping it calm and refreshed. Which makes it perfect in combination with the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation which is very much a skin like base and works wonderfully if your skin is unpredictable as it works well on dry or oily patches. The two mesh together and keep your skin looking fresh all day, it's not a duo that creates that I'm seriously glowing look which some might prefer but sometimes it's nice to have the option to add your own glow with highlight etc.

THE SERIOUSLY PERFECTED FACE

CLARINS SMOOTHING PERFECTING TOUCH PRIMER* & THE BEAUTY PIE GREAT SKIN FOUNDATION*

Without a doubt probably my all time favourite primer is the Clarins Smoothing Perfecting Touch, it creates such a beautiful base no matter the condition of my skin and I know it will work. It creates not only a smooth perfected surface for makeup which is perfect when you might be struggling with blemishes or scarring. It doesn't feel at all heavy on the skin which can often be the case when a primer aims to truly perfect the complexion. The Beauty Pie Foundation is already perfecting without any use of a primer but in combination with the Clarins, it creates a seriously flawless base. And for me, having a flawless base doesn't mean my skin doesn't look like mine anymore or that it's been airbrushed. I still want my skin to look like it belongs on my face rather than a glossy page of a magazine and that's what this base does for me, it blurs over all my imperfections but still allows things like my freckles to peep through.

THE LIT FROM WITH IN BUT FLAWLESS FACE

TOO FACED HANGOVER PRIMER & CLINIQUE EVEN BETTER SKIN FOUNDATION

The Too Faced Hangover Primer is what I always reach for when my skin isn't looking so great and is generally very lacklustre and what hungover skin generally looks like. It feels like a moisturiser on the skin but perfects it like a primer and it has some wonderful ingredients in it that help to nourish the skin as well containing probiotics that help to replenish the complexion. The Clinique Even Better Foundation is a base that I think is underrated online and not spoken about enough. It's one of those truly wonderful bases that perfects the skin with ease but it doesn't require a huge amount of effort and just glides over the complexion with ease. This is a combination I love to reach for in the summer months as the TF primer feels so cooling and even though it's nourishing it doesn't make your base slide away from your face within seconds. And the Clinique foundation has incredible lasting power and really does stay put all day whilst still staying perfected.
