10 Things That I'm Really Loving Right Now
Writing this post makes me feel like I've gone back to the blogging world circa 2010 which makes my nostalgic heart very happy. I'm constantly torn between loving posts that are planned and structured and then posts that are just an insight to whatever that person is enjoying at the moment. Two of my all time favourite blogs Little Henry Lee & Daisybutter are great examples of how to do both. So here are 10 things that I'm really enjoying at the moment from plants to a new haircut.
EUCALYPTUS
Buying flowers isn't something that I can afford to do all the time but every so often I love to treat myself to a bunch. I'm not sure if eucalyptus really counts as a flower because it's more leaves than petals but it's still beautiful. I found a local florist that sells the stems for £1.50 which is perfect as they're are so big so you don't need many to fill more than one vase. And it lasts a good month if you regularly change the water and trim the ends so you definitely get your money's worth from your bunch.
NESTING
Don't worry, this post doesn't come with a hidden secret that I'm with child but I've been in a serious nesting stage at home. Which is probably down to the weather change but the sheets have been swapped over to brushed cotton, the 13.5 tog duvet is back as well as far too many blankets. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Autumn there is something lovely about pulling out the softest blankets and being able to turn my electric blanket on once again which makes falling to sleep so easy.
GILMORE GIRLS
If you follow me on Twitter or IG Stories you will already be fully aware of my love affair with GG. When I find a series that I like I really go all in with it and I'm currently in the middle of a serious love affair with Gilmore Girls. It's one of those shows that hooks you instantly and even though some of it's completely unrealistic I can't help but want to live in Stars Hollow. If you're looking for a real feel good show to watch and see you through the A/W months then I'd definitely suggest Gilmore Girls. And if you end up buying a Borg Jacket because of it then it's definitely not the worst thing that could happen.
A NEW LOOK FOR FROM ROSES
You might have noticed that things are looking a little bit different around this part of the internet and that's because I had a little redesign in September. Even though I loved my previous design I'd become a little tired of it and that along with a few more reasons pushed me to finally change things up. Because I work on my blog pretty much every day of the year it's all too easy to feel tired of the look of it as well as outgrowing an aesthetic. I'm constantly squirrelling away and adding new features as one of my favourite things about having a blog is that you're completely free with the design of it.
& A NEW LOOK FOR ME
As a child, I was never allowed to grow my hair long because my mum knew just how much a faff caring for long hair was. So ever since I've been able to choose my own hairstyle I've been on the mission to grow it out. And my hair has been pretty long for a while now , almost down to my bellybutton and it had got to the point where it was completely unmanageable. It fell lank and lifeless no matter how hard I tried to keep volume in it. So now I'm 5 inches later and I feel like a new person, I absolutely love how something as simple as a haircut can make you feel much better about yourself. I've gone for a blunt finish on the ends so it adds a lot more volume to my otherwise sad tresses and I'm tempted to lop a little more off next time.
FRESH WARDROBE PIECES
The whole haul culture isn't something I'm a big fan of and even though I write a blog about material items. I never try to encourage anybody to go out and buy something because I don't think it's right or responsible when I'm fortunate enough to be sent so many incredible things. So for that reason, I rarely blog about what I've been buying and I'm pretty well restrained with my spending in general. But when the season's change I always try and pick up a few new things to freshen up my wardrobe a little bit. For a while, I felt like I was in a real style slump and even something as simple as a new jumper and jacket has given my wardrobe a refresh and boosted my confidence tenfold.
THRICE'S NEW ALBUM
Taking into consideration that my boyfriend's a musician I very rarely discuss music on my blog or anywhere online. Probably because music is such a huge part of life already I don't feel the need to talk about elsewhere? Anyway, I'm really terrible at listening to new music and still listen to my favourite albums circa 2005 on repeat most days. But one album I've been listening to none stop is Thrice's new album and they're a band that I was never all that enamoured with in their heydey but their new album is incredible and definitely worth a listen if you haven't already.
BRIGHT AUTUMN DAYS
I'm not a big lover of dreary days, even though curling up in a blanket is one of my favourite things in the world I hate feeling trapped because of the weather. So needless to say that I'm not a huge fan of A/W for that reason. But lately, we've had some really beautiful bright days where there hasn't been a cloud in the sky and it's been so lovely. Waking up to the sunshine is something I love more than anything, it instantly puts me in a good mood even though it's still bitterly cold outside.
KNITTING
I learnt how to knit in March and it took me a ridiculously long time to finish my first scarf but I'm so proud of my first piece, there isn't a stitch missing. I'm now onto scarf number 2 which will probably take me until the end of Winter to complete. But knitting has become my new favourite way to unwind at the end of the night with a few episodes of Gilmore Girls. I've been struggling with reading at the moment which is my usual go to for switching off but knitting has been filling the void perfectly.
USING THINGS UP
Maybe it's because I'm on a real nesting kick but I've been getting such a thrill over saying goodbye to things that have been sitting around for far too long. It's mostly beauty products that I'm using up and even though some of them are my all time favourites it's weirdly refreshing to say goodbye to them. I'm not a minimalist by any means, I love my personal sentimental pieces far too much but just having less 'stuff' around me has been refreshing mentally.
