10 Of The Best Beauty Discoveries From 2016 So Far
Writing about beauty means that I'm fortunate enough to work some awesome brands so I'm constantly discovering new products. So today I thought I would round up some of my favourite discoveries from 2016 so far. Although I'm sure that none of these items will be that much of a shock for my regular beauty post readers.
ERBORIAN CC CRÈME*: This a hybrid product between a moisturiser, colour corrector and a primer. So what else could you want in a base product? It's to be used either before makeup or stand alone as your base but personally, I love to use this before whatever base I'm using to create a really flawless perfected look that still exudes radiance. I've found this to be particularly good when dealing with a lacklustre and sallow complexion as it perks the skin up instantly and makes the overall complexion look a lot healthier.
PERRICONE MD NO LIPGLOSS LIPGLOSS*: Lipgloss isn't a product that I typically get along with as I hate wearing anything that's sticky or tacky and requires a lot of work. However this product from skincare brand Perricone MD isn't your typical gloss [hence the name] it's much more like a liquid lipstick in its formulation. It deposits a pretty subtle rosy shade to the lips and smoothes over any imperfection or dry patches and it's not sticky or tacky and can be blotted down for a more matte finish. Even though it's so lightweight in consistency it doesn't just disappear on the lips and wears evenly throughout the day and is easy to touch up if required.
PIXI BEAUTY BRONZER*: When it comes to lip products I don't typically lean away from anything that isn't a dirty pink. And bronzer & I certainly don't have a happy relationship. Until this product from Pixi came along and it's the perfect bronzing option for paler girls as it's almost like a blush. The two colours swirled together creates the most beautiful shade that is sculpting as well as giving the skin a beautiful highlight. Even though it's a powder product it's incredibly soft and buttery meaning it's incredibly easy to work with. But it's also super long-lasting so you don't have to worry about it simply just fading away from the cheek.
TOO FACED CHOCOLATE BON BONS PALETTE*: Too Faced eyeshadows are really having a moment in the beauty world and it's not too hard to understand why. Whilst the Chocolate Bon Bons palette might seem like a complete gimmick on the surface it's absolutely beautiful. Apart from a few shades, it's got absolutely everything that I want in a palette and the formulation of the shadows is absolutely beautiful. They're so buttery and soft but the colour doesn't melt away and fall out once on a brush or lid. They're super easy to work with which is key when you're a complete eyeshadow novice like me. And that isn't enough to sway you into looking into this palette then it also smells like chocolate which is pretty dreamy.
ANTIPODES CREAM CLEANSER*: Over the past couple of years, I've gone back and forth between using oils, balms and even gels but I think my heart will always lie with a cream cleanser. And whilst I don't think anything will overtake my love for the classic Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish this cleanser from all natural skincare brand Antipodes is coming close. It's incredibly kind to the skin but it still gives it a deep cleanse whilst serving up a big surge of moisture. My skin feels exactly how I want it to after using this and I've not found it to aggravate any blemishes that I might be struggling with or cause any redness. I've also found it to be great at keeping the skin happily balanced by keeping any extra oil production at bay but also helping with any hydration issues.
PIXI FLAWLESS BEAUTY PRIMER*: So often when a primer is radiance inducing it doesn't do much else for the skin but this base option from Pixi is unlike anything else I've used. It gives the skin such a beautiful glow but it can vastly improve the wear time of your foundation too. Not only is it great at priming the skin but it's a product that can be used alone to disguise uneven tones in the complexion also.
BARE MINERALS MATTE & GLOW PALETTE*: Powder isn't something that is typically all that exciting but this duo palette from Bare Minerals is awesome. It contains one powder that is completely matte and then the other is a radiance powder which gives the skin a beautiful soft focus glow without an ounce of glitter or shimmer. It's absolutely perfect if you've got a combination complexion and find different areas of your face need different things from your powder.
PESTLE & MORTAR HYDRATE MOISTURISER*: There have been a lot of moisturisers that I've loved this year so it's hard to narrow it down to just one. But as this one is suitable for AM & PM it's got to win hands down. If you're a long-term reader of my blog posts then you might recognise this brand as they're the creators of my all time favourite hyaluronic acid serum and their moisturiser is equally as dreamy. This moisturiser is incredibly hydrating but it's so lightweight and fresh on the skin. It sinks in quickly and it doesn't have any issues with products going over the top of it. And although it has nothing to do with the product inside I absolutely love the packaging of this moisturiser as it's so hygienic.
FRANK ORIGINAL BODY SCRUB*: I like my limbs to feel as smooth and hydrated as possible as it's one of the things that makes me feel the most body confident. The coffee scrubs from Frank have been a little bit of a revolution in my beauty routine. Even though they're messy and require a little bit of extra effort I find that they have undeniably good results. The blend of the coffee with other ingredients like sweet almond oil means that you're not only getting a good scrub but it's also hydrating on the skin too. They're one of those beauty products that you don't have to buy as it's pretty easy to DIY at home yourself.
FRANK BODY BALM*: I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is like the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream but for your body and it's a great treat for parched skin. It's too heavy and oily to be used on a daily basis but especially after exfoliating it gives your limbs a huge boost of moisture and incredible glow. To make more use out of this I personally like to mix a small amount of it into whatever moisturiser I'm using as it does give the skin such a beautiful glow but it doesn't feel as heavy when used in this way.
What are your favourite beauty products from this year so far?
