If You Love Eyeshadow But You're Lazy...Meet The Eyeshadow Pencils

Even when I'm wearing super minimal makeup something that I will always reach for is an eyeshadow. My eyelids are a little discoloured and having that wash of champagne is such a confidence booster for me. But sometimes I can't be bothered to faff around and just want something that is simple and fuss free to use and that is where the eyeshadow pencils come in. And if you love the look of a glittery eye that looks a little glossy, sticks around all day and can be applied with your fingers then these might be worth adding to your makeup bag rotation.

Way back when I first started blogging I remember the excitement that surrounded the brand NYX as they weren't something that was easily accessible. But now they're available in Boots so you can go and swatch till your heart's content and one of my favourite products are the jumbo eye pencils particularly the shade Yoghurt. It's a more bronze take on the classic champagne shades that I usually apply to my lids and I love that. If you're not into really warm tones then this is such a flattering shade. It's soft and creamy which makes it so easy to apply but it's not so soft that it just smushes onto the eyelid and then melts away. I like to amp this up sometimes to quite an intense finish and it almost leaves a glossy sheen to the eye which is perfect for a fresh-faced look. You can also add a powder on top of this to really amp up that shimmer whilst still maintaining that sheen. This would be perfect if you wanted something to prime the lids a little too.

This was my first foray into the world of eyeshadow pencils and the first one I really fell in love with. Charlotte Tilbury is a brand that I've not quite got on board with, there are a few products that I love but I'm not smitten. However, I do really love this pencil and it's a beautiful glittery champagne shade that makes such a statement on the lid with minimal effort. All you have to do is scribble it on blend a little and you're good to go, it's not quite as soft as the NYX offering but it's not something that drags the lid either and then with a brush or your finger you can achieve a flawless finish on the lid. It's without a doubt one of the longest lasting shadows and you don't need to add a powder on top to intensify the finish, it does that all on its own. From a high-end brand that typically boasts a higher price point, this sits quite comfortably and it's something that is long lasting so you also get a good cost per use from the pencil.

And finally, my latest shadow stick to join my collection and possibly my favourite out of them all. The shade Hollywood Land is a true golden champagne which looks absolutely stunning on the lid, so often golds can look a little strange and don't sit well on the skin but this does. And the formulation is superb, it's more like the NYX pencil with how soft and creamy it is and it just glides onto the lid but then the intensity of it is very much like the Charlotte Tilbury option. I've been wearing this alone for more of a gloss to the lid and then if I want a really, really intense gold for the evening then I will add a swipe of a shadow on top and I absolutely adore the way it looks. The best things about the pencils aside from how easy they are to use is that they can be used as a primer or a shadow on its own and who doesn't love a product with more than one function? If you're the type of person who just likes to wear one single shadow then these might be a good option for you as they're so easy to use.
