Worth The Splurge?
Sometimes it's difficult to know whether a beauty product is really worth the money or if it's just simply marketing hype. Like most 20 something’s, I don't have an unlimited budget to be splashing on beauty products and want to know if I'm actually going to get my money's worth when shopping a little more high end. Here is a run down of eight hyped up beauty products and whether I think they are worth the money or not.
ZOEVA ROSE GOLD LUXURY SET 2*: A brand that has totally taken the blogging world by storm is Zoeva and it's easy to see why with their dreamy designs. My love for the first rose gold set has been declared time and time again since I received them as a birthday gift last year and they've really stood the test of time even with frequent washes. Out of the two luxe brush sets available I would say I think the first contains the majority of brushes that I reach for on a daily basis. The second set is, of course, undeniably beautiful, but I don't find it offers as much for everyday use unless you're seriously into creating dramatic eye looks.
VERDICT: BRUSHES = YES COLLECTION = NO
TOO FACED BETTER THAN SEX MASCARA: Probably one of the most talked about mascaras in 2015 and even though I find the name completely trashy I do like what it does to my lashes. At first, I wasn't completely sold but once it had dried out a little I totally understood what all the fuss was about. I love how much volume and lift this gives my lashes without being a nightmare to remove which can sometimes be a real issue with other volumising options. I'm always torn with my thoughts on spending a little more on mascara as there are so many great budget options out there, but they are a nice treat every now and again.
VERDICT: YES
PACO RABANNE OLYMPÉA PERFUME*: Lady Million from Paco Rabanne will always hold a special place in my heart but since then I've never really tried much from the brand. The Art Deco packaging of their latest release Olympéa* is something I swooned over instantly, it's undeniably classy and looks beautiful sat on any dressing table. Aside from the dreamy packaging the scent is absolutely stunning, it's a little bit masculine with notes of salted vanilla it's a lovely twist on an otherwise feminine fragrance. I love that it's a little bit deeper and dare I say sexier than my usual perfume choices, a new release that is totally worth the splurge.
VERDICT: YES
TOO FACED HANGOVER REPLENISHING FACE PRIMER: As you can see I've become pretty familiar with the Too Faced brand over the past few months. Primer is a product that I'm typically pretty fussy with, it has to offer me a bounty of benefits to make the extra step worth it and I'm not a fan of silicone-based products. Luckily, this new release from the brand is perfect for those of us who struggle with lack lustre skin and really want to achieve a smooth perfected glow without the inclusion of silicone in the ingredient list. The way this makes my skin look is like nothing else I've ever tried before and a primer that is definitely worth all the hype it's been getting.
VERDICT: YES
LAURA MERCIER RADIANCE PRIMER*: I've spoken about this primer in numerous posts and I'm still pretty on the fence about how I feel about this cult product from the brand. The reason why I wanted to talk about it again is because I find the Too Faced option to give better results than this so if you were in the market for a new primer than maybe it's worth splurging on that instead of this. Of course, it's a personal preference but for me the Too Faced primer surpasses this in every way possible.
VERDICT: NO
CLARINS LIP BALM PERFECTOR*: Clarins lip products usually come out on top for their shade range, formulation and scent. Apart from this option, after hearing nothing but good things about these golden clad lip balms I was excited to give the shade Rose* a try. For a tinted balm, it's a given that they're not going to pack as much as a punch in pigmentation as your typical lipstick but I could barely detect this on my lips. It does leave a pretty sheen and smells incredible but for the price you're better off splurging on the next product I'm going to talk about.
VERDICT: NO
FRESH SUGAR LIP BALMS: If you're a regular reader of my beauty posts you will know that I'm a complete fool for any lip product from Fresh but there is a good reason for that. They're beautifully hydrating on the lips and really help to eliminate any dryness but the pigmentation is where these balms surpass any of their competitors. They behave like a lipstick but with all the benefits of a balm and wear incredibly well. If you want to spend a little more on a tinted balm then I cannot recommend these enough, as you guys well know I'm totally in love with them.
VERDICT: YES
BENEFIT ROLLER LASH MASCARA: When Benefit releases a new product they do it big and I mean really big. Their marketing campaigns are always so clever and immediately create a buzz within the beauty community. They're Real is still one of the best selling mascaras in the UK so when Roller Lash came a long I think we were all wondering how it would compare. Personally I prefer it, mostly due to the fact it's not a nightmare to remove and I like how fluttery this makes my lashes. It doesn't bring much in the volume department though so for that reason I don't think this is worth the extra money when you can get much better mascaras from the high street.
VERDICT: NO
Have you tried any of these products? Do you think they are worth the splurge?
