Beauty On Trial #2
It's time for another beauty on trial post. I always get excited to put together these posts as it's rare I get to just review products. So I've been gathering together all the items that have come into my beauty stash recently and here are some thoughts on them.
LANOLIPS STRAWBERRY LIP OINTMENT*: Personally I think Lanolips is an underrated brand. I never hear people talk about them in the blogging world, but their lip products are some of the best out there. They've just released a new line of lip ointments and I've been trialing the strawberry option*. It's a chemical exfoliant and a balm all rolled into one and it's pretty incredible. It leaves your lips beautifully smooth and the scent and flavour are absolutely dreamy.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY INGÉNUE SET*: It's taken me a long time to try anything from Charlotte Tilbury, no matter how many times I stood and gazed at the products at a counter I just couldn't bring myself to purchase anything. It's an incredibly hyped up brand in the blogging world which always bring out the skeptic in me. After doing a post featuring the Ingénue set [see here] I could instantly see why the brand is loved, it's because the quality of the products is incredible. My personal favourites are the lip pencils and the colour chameleon eye pencils.
BARE MINERALS BLEMISH REMEDY POWDER*: I've featured this in a few of my recent beauty posts and it's a great mineral powder. It's marketed as a foundation for blemish prone skin but I've been using it as a setting powder and it's great for adding that little bit of extra coverage. I can't say how it's been on blemishes, but it does contain some great ingredients for tackling them so I can imagine it's soothing on spot prone skin. As a powder, however, it's great and it's not a total nightmare to use due to the packaging.
MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL: Mascara is something that I'm incredibly fussy with, I think I've found my favourite one but as it's seriously expensive it's not something I can have in my stash constantly. I'd heard really good things about the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara and I was happy to discover that they were true. This gives your lashes a lot of lift and separation whilst still providing volume. It's a really great mascara and it lasts all day without smudging and isn't a nightmare to remove.
DAVINES 01 HAND BALM*: I'm a sucker for anything in a metal tube and this hand cream is no exception. I've never heard of the brand Davines and I always get excited to try new hand creams as you can instantly know whether it's good or bad. I'm going to make a bold statement here and say that this is one of the best I've ever tried. It has a really comforting smell, almost like baby shampoo which I know might not be for everyone, but I really like it. The formula is fantastic, it sinks into the skin within seconds making your hands feel unbelievably soft and helps relieve any dryness within minutes. It's not at all sticky so it's become my new desk essential and we all know sticky keys aren't great.
SALLY HANSEN NAIL POLISH: I've always browsed the Sally Hansen counter but never picked up a shade until now. The shade Enchante is very much a 'me' shade, a brown based pink and if you know the Revlon Matte Balm in Sultry it's like that in a nail polish. Formula wise these are great polishes, they are opaque in one coat and last well on the nails. They don't last as long as my beloved Essie polishes but still really well.
MAKE UP FOREVER HD ULTRA FOUNDATION*: A brand I've always been super curious about is MUFE, for years I've heard their products hyped up beyond belief so I was excited to give one of their foundations a try. The HD foundation is famous in the beauty world for being very perfecting and recently they've released the HD Ultra foundation. This is a beautiful base, it's a little more matte than I'm used to, but it's unbelievably perfecting whilst still looking natural on the skin which is a fine line to toe. It applies seamlessly in combination with the Zoeva Silk Finish Brush and is so easy to blend in. As I'm only a few uses in I can't give an in-depth review but so far I'm pretty smitten with this new base.
BARE MINERALS BRUSH SHAMPOO*: Brush shampoo is one beauty product that I've never felt the need to go out and try. I've always been happy with my brush washing routine, but I was looking forward to seeing if this would make a difference. I can't say I've noticed a huge difference in the condition of my brushes, but it does remove makeup remnants a little quicker. It's not swayed me enough to purchase it again so I'll just stick to my anti-bacterial soap from now on I think.
What beauty items are you testing out right now?
